Thank you. I’ll look more into it on the server side. I use Siteground. It seems to be working better today. When I was originally trying to regenerate all the thumbs were broken so I thought maybe it trying to look for the thumbs and not finding them was causing some issues.
But since then Siteground did flush some cache on the site so possibly something was not running correctly. Might have also just been something weird too like Wordfence scanning each file as they were getting created since I have the sensitivity set high on Wordfence and it will scan JPGs.

I’m experiencing the same problems. I usually upload images at 3000px wide but I compress them locally with ImageOptim so the files are always under 1MB. When I upload them I get the error. However, the files upload but get converted to 2560px wide.

I can upload through the media library and not get the error but the files still get resized to 2560px wide.

For now, I’m automating all my files locally to resize to 2500px, this allows me to upload them through the media library without the error or without some strange WordPress resizing.

I’ve worked with my server admin for quite some time to try to figure this out, it’s clearly a WordPress bug currently with no fix.

It seems to be doing it less now than it was before, so it’s possible my host was doing something on their end, or I was working during peak times. I also started getting this problem around the time I upgraded Wordfence to Pro, and I’ve put it back in learning mode now, so maybe that’s helping. It’s a lot rarer that these issues are happening now.

It seems updating Jetback yesterday killed this plugin. No longer works.
