Sorry for the late response.

The default behavior should close the popups when you click on the map outside the pins.
Also, you can check the options in the Controls section for these options:
Controls > Info Container Opened when Hovered
Controls > Info Container Closed when Mouse Out

Please double-check the options and uncheck this option:
Controls > Info Container Always Opened

I had the same problem, it is definitely a problem with one of the plugins.
But I couldn’t specify which one.
I copied the wp-load.php file content from another WordPress installation.
Then set the permission of the wp-load.php file to 444, so the plugins can’t modify it.
Worked for now.
