It is rather easy.
msgfmt it_IT.po -o msgfmt it_IT.mo
Then move the resulting .mo to wp-include/languages.
Finally edit your wp-config.php file to include
define ('WPLANG', 'it_IT');

A minimal test would probably be something like https://www.cdr.se/fieldset.html which floats the fieldsets in FF0.9 but not in Opera 7.51.

Opera got a problem with floating fieldsets according to another post in these forums.

Bah, thought I was logged in from this computer too. Well, now I am. Is there an intrest for an iso-8859-1 version of the translation file along with the UTF-8 one? There are some flaws in the translation that I will fix tomorrow. It is so much easier to get a decent translation when you use the software for some time. ??
