Also you can look inAdvanced options – Limit the number of posts in the sitemap: (Newer posts will be included first) but i dont know if will split it.
I’m not sure, but i think the BETA plugin has this. https://www.arnebrachhold.de/projects/wordpress-plugins/google-xml-sitemaps-generator/#P18DL
