In reply to: [VS Event List] Paypal buttonsYes I can fix it, I was just trying to understand why it took two or three goes each time before it looked right. I’ve now found that the code is best inserted into the WordPress object called shortcode [/] rather than the one called code <>. I’ve no idea what the difference is, but shortcode works better.

In reply to: [Membership 2] PayPal subscription changesI would like to have the abilty to alter existing Paypal subscriptions. Members who have paid a subscrition to our organization via Paypal are unable to change the amount nor the date themselves, nor can we do this through Paypal’s admin account. As we increased our rates last year we are suffering from alot of members whose payments are still coming in at the old rate. Is there any plugin that would give us this functionality?

In reply to: [VS Event List] Paypal buttonsI need to revisit this as I’m having new difficulties and I don’t know if this has been caused by a Very simple Event List update or a WordPress update. A previously inserted Paypal button no longer works as it did only two weeks ago. I’ve tried re-inserting the code and I got some odd results. The wordpress generated code is : <form target=”paypal” action=”https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr” method=”post”>
<input type=”hidden” name=”cmd” value=”_s-xclick”>
<input type=”hidden” name=”hosted_button_id” value=”MHJLQ22YQPZ2N”>
<table>
<tr><td><input type=”hidden” name=”on0″ value=”Options”>Options</td></tr><tr><td><select name=”os0″>
<option value=”Member”>Member £45.00 GBP</option>
<option value=”Guest”>Guest £55.00 GBP</option>
</select> </td></tr>
</table>
<input type=”hidden” name=”currency_code” value=”GBP”>
<input type=”image” src=”https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_GB/i/btn/btn_cart_LG.gif” border=”0″ name=”submit” alt=”PayPal – The safer, easier way to pay online!”>
</form>
Now in the event page, I creat a new event -give it a heading Test Event, then add a code block and paste in the Paypal code. When I save and preview all the code is visible:
If I change the block to pre-formatted, the button appears with its options but on a background or horizontal stripes. If I change the code back to paragraph, the buttons appear as they should but on the code page it now says ‘This block contains unexpected or invalid content’ . What’s going on here? I would post some screenshots but I can’t see a way of attaching them here.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [VS Event List] Paypal buttonsOk -I’ve sorted it – it looks like a WordPress change rather than yours, but for anyone else who has the same problem, you click on the + button at the top and choose insert shortcode block, then put the code in there.

In reply to: [VS Event List] Dont link to event category pageThankyou -I didn’t realize there was a separate settings page -I’ve now found the checkbox and turned off the Category link.

In reply to: [VS Event List] Dont link to event category pageI’m having this issue too. I run a site for the Folly Fellowship. I’ve made two categories, one for Folly Fellowship events, and one for events by other organizations. This enables me to have two events calendars on one page which works nicely. see https://follies.org.uk/index.php/this-year/
But these categories show as links on the left of each event -clicking on them just brings up a page with an error message on. I can’t see the point of these links and would rather remove them.Forum: Plugins

In reply to: Problems making wordpress visible on my domainWell I had another look and found I’d got an older version of index.php that was a lot shorter than the one above, and looked just like your example. So I renamed that to be the current one and changed that one line. All is now working. I have no idea how the file got all thos extra lines as I’d never opened it before, so WordPress must have done something. Thanks for putting me in the right direction.

In reply to: Problems making wordpress visible on my domainThanks for your reply. I’ve only got one index.php and I still can’t find those tow lines. SO here is the complete contents of my index.php, perhaps you can tell me which part I should change. Note I’ve designing awebsite rather thana blog, so I don’t think I have the bit that says wp-blogheader.php

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Problems making wordpress visible on my domainI should add that i can no longer get into my WordPress control panel either – when i logged in with my usual credentials I just get a blank page that says ‘https://follies.org.uk/wp-login.php’ in the address bar. This is worrying as I can no longer get in, nor give you a login to have a look. Any help to get my new website visible again would be much appreciated. I’m rather desparate to see two months solid work come to nothing!
I did spend some time trying different abckup add-ins until I found one that worked. So I do have a very recent backup, but I can only restore it through the WordPress dashbaord that I can no longer access.Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: .com vs .org templatesOk -thanks.
Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: .com vs .org templatesYes I read that bit -but are free templates going to work with either, or just .com sites. For example this site https://colorlib.com/wp/free-wordpress-themes/ -are these going to work with .org sites -they just say they’re for WordPress so I assumed the underlying structure was the same even if the hosting is different.

In reply to: Admin page is blankBut which files are ‘the database’?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Admin page is blankWell I have a copy of the complete wp-content folder, but I’d be grateful if someone could tell me which files contain my text as I can’t identify them.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Admin page is blankNo its not. I tried reaplcing the wp-login.php with afresh copy -it made no difference. I tried reuploading everything except the wp-content folder (couldn’t find the htaccess file so don’t know if I uploaded that or not) anda gain blank screens, So as a last resort I just deleted all the files and folders, and then uploaded all the folders and files from a new download of WordPress. Everything is still blank. The admin screen now says “Fatal error: Cannot redeclare check_password_reset_key() (previously declared in /content/shard2/sites3/f/o/follies.org.uk/web/wp/wp-login.php:281) in /content/shard2/sites3/f/o/follies.org.uk/web/wp/wp-includes/user.php on line 2077 “. The blog screen stays resolutley blank with no error message.This really is hopeless. I’ll just have to recreate all the missing text but I’ll do it in html this time and put it directly into my website. I though using a preconfigured template like WordPress would save me time but its proved much more time consuming. I’ve lost everything I’ve written over the last two years.
