If Media Vault is not being supported anymore, does anybody know of an alternative that will do a similar job of protecting media files so that only those who log in can view?

An update….

It looks like media vault prevents access to the Jpegs as well.

I’m not sure what I’ve done wrong as I updated the .htaccess file as instructed.

Any help gratefully received.

Yes it is my site. The website you mention at https://www.alanpewsey.webspace.virginmedia.com/ is my old site that I want to retire. I have a domain name https://www.pewseys.co.uk that also points to this site as well.

I have been building a new WordPress site at
https://79.170.40.239/pewseys.co.uk/) and once I can get it working I will replace my old site with this flashy new WordPress site and transfer the domain https://www.pewseys.co.uk to point at this site. Hope that makes sense.

So WordPress is installed at https://79.170.40.239/pewseys.co.uk/ and as you can see when you go to that address it takes almost a minute to load.

If I can work out why it takes so long and fix it I can then make retire my old site.

Any ideas?
