In reply to: Pages not showingThanks – that solved it! I am using BulletProofSecurity, and for some reason it seemed to have lost that information.
I do have another problem now, though, which started when I was working on this one; I get the message on my home page:
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/alan/public_html/myblog/wp-includes/functions.php:2879) in /home/alan/public_html/myblog/wp-content/plugins/covertgeotargeter/covertgeotargeter-plugin.php on line 262
I have deleted that plugin, but still get the message. Also, my wifgets are still appearing as html code rather than the images, etc. that should be there.

In reply to: Pages not showingAnother clue might be that my widgets are not showing correctly. The html content is displayed as code.

In reply to: Database update looping after importI can now get in to my blog, but there are still 2 problems.
First, none of the images or widgets seem to be present.
Second, the last few posts and comments are missing.
I tried importing a more recent copy of the database, but it seems to have had no effect.
Any suggestions?

In reply to: Database update looping after importThat would explain it. I think it’s OK now (fingers crossed!)
Thanks for your help.

In reply to: Database update looping after importI have done all that now, but am in the same loop.
The wp-content contains plugins->akismet, themes->twentyten-old, uploads (empty). The wp-admin and wp-includes were updated with the new download. I think I went through all the other steps correctly, but is there something I should check to be sure?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Database update looping after importStill not clear about the WordPress core files. How do I get a fresh copy and where do I upload to? My guess is to the /myblog folder, but should I rename the /myblog.bkp first, since /myblog no longer exists?

In reply to: Database update looping after importAh – I see what you mean by renaming the current theme’s folder – I misread it! Duh!

In reply to: Database update looping after importTry:
– switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
I thought that meant rename the themes folder. What did you mean?
No – a fresh copy of the WordPress core files.
How do I get that?
Sorry to be so obtuse – I’m not used to getting under the hood of WordPress! And I really appreciate your help.

In reply to: Database update looping after importThanks for the advice. The WP folder is in public_html/myblog but when I look there I see that it has been renamed /myblog.bkp
I have renamed the themes folder and reset the plugins folder.
I’m not sure I understand the next step. By a fresh download of WordPress do you mean a new backup? How do I deselect the wp-content folder?

In reply to: Allowing CommentsSorry about that!
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Allowing CommentsI’m having a problem with comments: some of my posts show “Comments Closed” while others are OK. I can’t see where that has been set: how do I change it?
