In reply to: Link Categories & 404’sGood answer!
No, the categories are containers that links are assigned to
So, although this is the case, urls of the Link Categories page(s) are nevertheless created thus creating 404’s when deleted…right?? I hope…

In reply to: Link Categories & 404’sThanks!
If you deleted link categories then all your links are associated with the default link category, named blogroll unless you have changed its name.
If the links display in your sidebar, then your theme is either putting them there from code in sidebar.php, or there is a link widget active.
This helps me to understand how things work. Thanks pretty much what I was looking for. So, Link Categories/Blogroll Categories are actually urls, correct?

In reply to: Link Categories & 404’sHi,
I deleted Link Categories & the actual outbound links in said categories. All, except one, as it seems as though I am not able to delete the last one. The ones that I deleted are showing as 404’s in Google Webmaster Tools.
As far as being “hard-wired” in my template files, I don’t fully understand how Link Categories operate although it does seem that at least one is part of my template files as we are not using the “Blogroll” widget. I am confused as to how all of this functions, hence the thread ??

In reply to: Link Categories & 404’sThanks again but I already have a sitemap generator that updates daily.
What I am looking for is an explanation as to how Category Links operate, so to make a better informed decision. I can easily let Google & Yahoo know that the 404’s are legit & will not be back ??

In reply to: Link Categories & 404’sThanks but there are not “new” urls ??

In reply to: Admin Panel Not Working ProperlyOh I see where you’re going. However, the sites load ok, but what’s not loading & functioning are the admin panel & some of its features.
The problems appear to be wp related &/or Firefox related. Yet I do not know why such problems suddenly began occurring. We’ll see what I can find. Perhaps I will begin removing plugins…
Thanks!

In reply to: Admin Panel Not Working Properlyiridiax,
Well, they say not. Can you be more specific on how it could be web hosting related? The sites are on different servers. Thanks.

In reply to: Admin Panel Not Working ProperlyThanks…I have not experienced the problems yet tonight. Maybe it was a plugin & the issue worked itself out. We’ll see.
If the problem persists, I will start deleting plugins & take it from there. Thanks for the link to the support topic. There is a lot of good info there. Let’s hope whatever the problem was, it has come & gone. I did notice that during the problematic times, the “Add to Any” plugin wasn’t functioning properly. Perhaps it was the culprit…

ps- spoke too soon..happening again on my other site & it’s not the plugin that I thought.

In reply to: Insert Ads on Home,Archive & Search Pagesesmi,
The code is not on the site as I do not know how to properly install it. I was running some tests on a test site but it is not there anymore either. Can you still make a suggestion?
Thanks

In reply to: Ad on Home PageThanks… but I am a bit confused ?? Does this code go in the main index.php & where exactly? Is the code you indicated inclusive of some code that already exists in my template or do i need to create all such code? And…where in the div code do I put the ad code?
Thanks again!

In reply to: Best Place to Upload an ImageShane,
Is there some benefit to uploading an image or file to be used by my WP site in, for example, /wp-contents/uploads as opposed to uploading to public_html?
Thanks, Alan

In reply to: Sitemappps- I have managed to answer most of my own questions & corrected my initial Sitemap. Used an online generator, uploaded to server & added to GWT. Coming from Blogger, I was unable to do this as I did not have access to the server so all I could do was to add a feed.xml as a Sitemap.
Anyway, still can’t see why I would need a plugin to do this….unless I am still missing something:)
