Hi @roow
Do you only use your WordPress.com account to log into your dashboard, even on the live site?
Don’t you have regular WordPress admin user credentials that you can use to log in?
Can you share a screenshot of the login page you got? Thanks,
AlaaHi @svenpeter
Please fill in this form with your staging site’s details so we can investigate this issue for you.
Thanks,
AlaaHi @dbareis
Thanks for asking this question! I got your point, but changing the admin bar color is not supported in the free version of WP STAGING.
Cheers,
AlaaHi Steve!
It looks like your “wp_postmeta” table has more than 25 million records! That’s huge! I wonder if the cloning process completed successfully or not.
Anyway, to investigate this issue in detail, please send us your site’s system information from (WP STAGING > System Info) via this form.
And we will help you further from there,
Thanks.
Hi nealbo!
May I know what’s the name of the plugin you use to activate 2FA? So I can report this to our dev team and they will do their best to include support for it in one of the upcoming updates.
Thanks,
AlaaHi Thomas!
Thanks for sharing your invaluable thoughts with us, I’ll make sure to pass it on to the team.
Have a good day!
Hi word6w!
You can add these lines in robot.txt file to block Googlebot from indexing the images of the staging site:
User-agent: Googlebot-Image
Disallow: /Check this guide for more information.
Also, you shouldn’t worry about the images duplication issue, according to this article, there is no penalty for that.
Thanks,
Alaa
Is the plugin activated now on your site?
The page speed test varies according to the service you use and the time you do the test (depending on your server), I can’t reproduce the issue you mentioned on our testing sites, and I’m getting variant results using different pagespeed tools on your site by now:
- Pingdom (totally different than the result you shared regardless WP STAGING is activated or not):
https://i.vgy.me/BOVIUE.png - Google PageSpeed:
https://i.vgy.me/fiPeQc.png - GTmetrix:
https://i.vgy.me/mtXvXY.png
However, you might get a bit increase in memory/CPU usage on your site while cloning your site (due to the cloning/searching/replacing operations happening), but this will return back to its normal status after that.
Thanks,
Alaa
I think you are trying to add this PHP function using a file manager plugin inside WordPress Dashboard, is that right?
Please do that via FTP, that’s a safer way to do code modifications and you won’t be blocked by anything.
Thanks,
Alaa
Hi @lurrythekid
I believe you had these issues on the staging site, right?
Did you get them once you created the staging site, or was it working fine for some time until this happened?
Also, can you reproduce the same issue when creating a new staging site?
And most importantly, please confirm with your hosting provider that you have plenty of free disk space on your server (at least 2x your site’s size).
Keep me updated,
Thanks.
Updating a staging site will make it look exactly like your live site; that’s why I suggested creating a new staging site instead.
Or did you select only the new theme folder and un-selected everything else while doing the update process?
If that’s the case, let’s continue debugging this issue via the contact form above; I already got your request, and I’ll reply shortly.
A quick way to continue your work is to create a new staging site.
However, we would like to take a deep look into this issue, so please share your website link and the system information (WP STAGING > System Info) via this form:
https://wp-staging.com/support/
We will help you further from there.
Cheers,
Alaa
Hi!
We already have this mentioned in the plugin’s description:
And we have published a free tutorial explaining how you can migrate a staging site to the live site using the free version:
https://wp-staging.com/migrate-wordpress-staging-site-to-production-site/
But you have to know that the guide above requires some technical knowledge and it will take some time to go through it.
After knowing that, and given the information that there is a free guide to follow to migrate the staging site to the live site, I would appreciate adjusting the rating.
Thanks,
Alaa
Cloning to a whole new database will allow you to choose the database table prefix, but using the free version the plugin will generate something like (wpstg0_, wpstg1_ “for the next staging site you create”, wpstg2_, etc…). And you can’t control that.
Using a new database for the staging site is not included in the free version, so you are right, it will create a new “prefix” for the staging site that won’t affect the live site at all.
