Contact Form 7 can be easily integrated with Mailchimp. See docs on https://kb.mc4wp.com/connecting-contact-form-7-and-mailchimp-for-wordpress/
This documentation is from Mailchimp itself and I use it on my site.
You can choose to use a checkbox for the user to decide to join the list or not, Or you can use a hidden input to join always.

You can try Slick Popup plugin which uses contact form 7 plugin and can be used to force the user to submit before entering the site.

Yes, you can enter custom CSS to amend the styles and background of the popup button. It can be a Facebook Icon, WhatsApp icon or any other image that you want.

Please share the Form HTML from the edit Contact Form page. The website is using some script to style the dropdown list and possibly there is a conflict.

As the form is created with Contact Form 7, you will need to make some changes in the form fields to make them available in Mailchimp.
You need to use Mailchimp for WordPress plugin to achieve this. This article will be helpful when making changes in Contact Form 7.

I think it could be relevant to your theme or due to some other plugin conflict. Popup on the side and centered layout both work perfectly. Would you like us to review it on your site?
