In reply to: Moving WordPressThis is surely a way. I don’t know about others.
— You may want to use “Replace All” feature of text-editors to replace those links.
AS long as you have the old site up and running — You’re Safe.

In reply to: Moving WordPressFirst of all —
For new site —— Drop the database from phpMyadmin. You don’t need this data, this belongs to the old site.
(You may only want to drop the database and NOT DELETE, as it is properly configured back in config.php file)
—————————–
Then — Open up the .sql file — and replace all the occurrences of the previous site –For example – – replace —
https://www.previous-site.com ———-with —- https://www.new-site.com
Be sure to change the link till .com and don’t include the backslash after that — as this won’t change those occurrences which don’t involve a slash after them
For this you can use a decent text editor like Notepad++.

In reply to: Moving WordPress— Hello Craig..
Don’t panic — Until you have the old site up and running.
You can always use that to start a new migrate.As I see — in the first post – you listed the steps that you followed..
They are right, you just missed one — which is causing a redirect to previous domain.“Editing the .sql file”

In reply to: Wp Online Store – Prdouct list – restore mistake — immediate help needed.Thanks, mate.
I forgot to mark it as resolved. Yesterday I solved the issue myself.
I just moved the old copy again, and didn’t repeat the mistake.
–>It is a point of notice that — configuration files are must to be set to catch the new database.

In reply to: Show posts in a widgetYou may also want to use in-built recent posts widget from the default Jetpack Plugin.
It can be customized to fit needs.–I have read somewhere that using executable php on pages – compromises security.–
You must have added or deleted the symbolic characters — (‘,” quotation marks) (; – semicolon ) mistakenly.
You may get access to that file through FTP, and check for that line.
Another way to get access is Control Panel’s in built file manager.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Another sidebar issueReally, I didn’t know that — I am myself unknown to such things in this forum.
Thanks.

In reply to: Another sidebar issueOn the internal page — there seems to be widget area on the right.
You may be having a full-width template to be chosen when creating a page.
That way it won’t have sidebar in it.The other not so much technical way is ::
.page #widgets { display:none; }
remember the (dot)page (hash)widgets { display:none; }
add the above line in custom.css — through wp admin.

In reply to: Links and css not showing with MAMPAnd there you are. . .
Move them to the right place, and it should work.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Links and css not showing with MAMPBy that I mean, is it picking up the CSS file ?? As you said links are not working .. does that mean now the css is working ??
I’m working from scratch with a custom theme which is pretty clean at the moment. But I guess the paths are incorrect.
–>A new installations should set the paths by itself.
