The only two remaining barriers to this being resolved according to the google pagespeed analysis are:

• Consider reducing the time spent parsing, compiling and executing JS.
• Largest contentful paint

Any idea how I’d address those things?

So is there a fix? My site has this issue but the plugin didn’t become deactivated, but as with several people on the support forum we have shortcodes visible only. What should I and these people do?

Thanks Syam – I don’t think it’s that though as I can edit all of the “built-in” role types. It’s only the custom roles that I can’t edit.

Another way into the issue would be to create a new role which showed up in the BBpress role eco-system. See screenshot for an explanation.

I think a lot of the difficulties here are due to the way that BBPress works with roles as described in this thread here (2/3rds of which is way over my head) – https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/roles-and-capabilities-in-bbpress-2-2/

Thanks Samboll – I’m afraid that’s beyond my capabilities to diagnose whether it’s the right thing to fix the problem! Do you think that’s what it is?

Oh great Scott, my feed seems to be up the creek as well.

I’ve tried validating and get a big fat “Can’t find the feed” I’ve tried digging around in the header.php but it doesn’t seem anything obvious (i.e. I’m too stupid to see it)
