Found the problem. My site was set to redirect from https://www.sitename.com to https://sitename.com, but was in google webmaster tools as https://www.sitename.com. Picky picky! Changing the name in webmaster tools worked.

I am having the same problem. But am not running those plug ins. I disabled everything and switched back to the default theme and still it didn’t work. I run almost the exact same plug ins on another of my blogs and it works fine. but not on this one. Any ideas of anything else i can try?

-re-uploading all the files except the wp-content folder from a fresh download worked like a charm.
