  • It may be as simple as the Title column is set too narrow. There are a number of admin plugins that can help with this or, if you know a bit of code, you can do it yourself.

A quick Google on “changing admin post admin column widths” or similar should give a number of solutions if that is the case.

If not, you can get and share screengrabs easily (and for free) using Snaggy and share that here.

I’ll do my best to help.

What do you mean by “new arrival”? Is it a new Post or a new Page? Or is it something you are putting into a plugin?

I’ll do my best to help, and if you have a URL, that might help too.

I can see the menu breaks out of the header at >100% but how would you like it to look (can you create a mockup in a paint program?). You can keep the menu in the header by adding:

    overflow: auto;

to the #header but it still drops down.

If you can let me know exactly what you want it to look like, I’ll look further.

    Hi Kat.

I deactivated the current version and installed and activated the beta.

Immediately the delay returned when attempting to go from the Plugins tab to the Appearance tab – roughly 6 seconds. There was a similar delay going the other way (Appearance>Plugins).

Once I deactivated the beta plugin (so both versions were deactivated) the delay was back to <1 second. So for me, having the plugin active severely slows down my backend ??

I have not attempted a backup as that was not my problem (the current one does that job fine).

In short, I can use the plugin to make a backup, but then need to deactivate it to do anything else.

    Hi Kat,

I’ve installed the phpinfo plugin and got the output. How can I get it to you – I don’t want to post the whole thing here as it is huge long list!

    Hi Kat,

I’m a bit short on time but I just did a fresh local install with Desktop Server Premium v3.8.1 of WP 4.4. Then updated to 4.6. I deleted all plugins and all themes except 2016. Clicked around a bit on front and back ends, and then installed and activated BackUpWordPress.

Instantly accessing the Posts page in the backend took around 5 seconds (up from about 1). The same applied for other backend pages. However, I couldn’t see any effect on the front end. Going from front to backend also then took about 5 seconds.

I deactivated BackUpWordPress and access times in the backend returned to <=1s.

I’m happy to install any dev plugins and test again if you like.

    Hi Kat,

The problem occurs on both my local environment (created using Desktop Server standard settings [I don’t know what they are]) and also on the live version of the site at Fasthosts (bog standard cheapo shared hosting).

The fact it happens on both local and live sites suggests that it is not related to the environment, but I’m no expert.

I’ll try the plugin with another couple of my sites when I get a chance and also with a fresh install.

I’ll let you know how I get on.

    Thanks

Hi. A few suggestions for the future:

    1. Sorting – not just filtering
    2. Ability to use post/page title and/or other fields
    3. Specific image for isotope to show in the grid (e.g. a coloured block)
    4. Ability to use a one column format (e.g. a league table)

These are a few things I would find useful. I don’t know if anyone else would too.

Got there! It’s working of the featured image and auto links to the post!

So for anyone else – make sure the posts you wish to see have a featured image

jjmrestituto – is there any way to easily change it so that it shows the page/post title rather than the image?

    Thanks jjmrestituto.

I understand a bit better now and have sorted out the categories. I can get the buttons showing with the categories on – fine.

However, I can’t get a grid to show. Do I need to set something in the individual posts/pages. I basically just want the post/page title and link to the the items in the grid.

Any more help would be much appreciated ??

I just can’t get this to show anything except an “ALL” button and two other empty buttons. I’m sure I’m missing something obvious but could you expand a little on the implementation. My final try was using [isotope items=”6″ tax=”Uncategorized”] but still nothing ??

I’d love to use this plugin but I’m getting nowhere fast.

Samuel Wood (Otto) – you are a star sir! That was driving me mental.

    +1 my man!
