I’m a newbie so it’s probably of no interest. Is anyone following this anymore? Why is it marked “not a support question”? What is it then?

Sorry, but I just went to check what I could on the Java “setup’. I’ve found a section called Certificates. It gives me some options in a Cerificates Of Type box: Trusted Certificates, Secure Site, Signer CA, Secure Site CA, and Client Authentication. I know my server (hosted by AceNet)has comething odd with their “certificates”. When I connect, my machine always flags a warning about certificates. I’ve also looked under the advanced tab and found that <APPLET> tag support was only checked for Explorer not Mozilla (I’m using Firefox). I checked it and then got a warning telling me to: check the installation and/or did I have sufficient permissions to change the browser setting. Well it’s my f***g machine so I can do what I want?!? ?? Well I’d hope so . . . Anyway I opened the Java Console in Firefox and found this:

Is this the clue? What does it mean??? There are a mountain of errors being generated “from” the site according to the console. I can’t see a way to share these though. The majority are from my site but some are from WordPress Codex. Most of them start “Unknow Property” and the vast majority seem to refer to CSS files. I’m pasting them here just in case they mean anything to anyone reading this . . .

Thanks again! You seem to be coming to my rescue a lot! Tried the cache clear (is that the cache on my machine? I guess clearing it once is ok and shouldn’t it be clean on boot up?) Anyway no joy.
Tried re-uploading wpadmin folder and again no joy. I thought I had javascript enabled, but how do I confirm that? I see the icon in the system tray every so often but not now. Maybe that’s it? What to do??

Thanks for the link, I do get a bit lost looking around here. Never was very good at Super Mario! ?? Not sure if my original post made sense re-reading it – at the moment my categories only display when they have something in them. I wanted to stop that control happening and get menus to display because they’re there (and also to display the same all the time rather than changing depending on wherever you are on the site). I have been trying some plug-ins. Thanks for replying.

Thanks for being there, I was beginning to feel panic rising (5 topics and only one response over the week while the average is 4 replies). The quote (the title of this topic)is from Skippy’s Subscribe2 plugin Readme file which contains the installation instructions. S/he has directed support requests here. There’s no additional info in that file but on the webpage it says “you’ll need to create a link somewhere pointing toward subscribe.php. You can manually edit your index.php (or sidebar.php or footer.php), or you could use the WordPress Links manager.”. Well confusing no ? . . .

Go to your Options>General and sheck the relevant box under Membership. I think. I’m new too! I want the opposite and that’s where I’ve tried to enable it. By the way you need to change the spelling of your tag too, otherwise you may not get whatever it is that the thing does!! Good luck.

Thanks Mangia, only just realised you’d replied! I find this layout very hard to decipher somehow. It’s me I guess but at the moment I’ve got a couple og browser windows open (Firefox) one with a number of pages trying to get to the bottom of basic problems and learning layout, and the other watching these posts. Ther watching this post has me logged on, but somehow the other lot logged me off. When I tried to log back on there I was told I didn’t exist. So I created a “new” account with identical details to this one!! Mad huh?
