Basically, I rolled back to 2.0.66, re-edited the gallery.php file to display “alttext” rather than “descriptions”, and re-implemented the shortcodes I had on each page to reflect the thumbnail display template.

My meaning behind 2.0.66.16 “breaking” the ALT titles is that the plugin was displaying the description instead, as it were before I had implemented the gallery.php change in versions prior. The steps taken to “reverse” this is that I had assumed that the update just overwrote the gallery.php file with one that had “description” where I had “alttext” prior. This was not the case, however.

Everything checked out alright, all the fixes in the various support forums were in place, but the thumbnails only displayed the descriptions. Any changes to the Thumbnail template files caused no changes. Having the Thumbnail template point to different files entirely caused no changes. Deleting the code entirely in Thumbnail template files caused no changes. It was outright ignoring any changes I was making, which never happened in the previous version. Of course this was all taking place hand in hand with frequent cache clearing for both my computer and the site.

Rolling back the update to 2.0.66 allowed me to edit the gallery.php file and have the changes recognized by the plugin. The reason I had not made a support ticket is because this is a very time sensitive issue, and I was able to remedy it by the time you had gotten back to a bad rating, let alone the support forum at your leisure.

Every time I have an issue with the website, it’s with NGG. Any time there’s an update, or a host transfer, or a domain transfer literally the only plugin that has issues is NGG. The plugin is deserving of this rating but your customers are also deserving of warnings for these updates.
