Finally figured out how to do it. Thank you for all of your suggestions. Went the harder route and changed to sizing in Style.css file. Images in the slider are 980 x 435. Set max-width to 908px and you’re set.

Right, that part, I understand. However it seems there are two different ways for the galleries to function. The standard gallery format looks like this: https://demo.alxmedia.se/hueman/2013/07/gallery-format-post/ which are what those instructions follow. I’m attempting to create the gallery without the black/grey sides as in my OP.

The one right below the Calendar with the arrows and the boxes next to it.

I’m still receiving the same issue and cannot use anything on my website(front end, back end, nothing).

The message I get is: “Fatal error: Class ‘SlideshowPluginAJAX’ not found in /wp-content/plugins/slideshow-jquery-image-gallery/slideshow.php on line 40”

I’ve removed and re-added 2.2.11, 2.2.12, and 2.2.13. Anyone have any ideas?

I’ve tried re-downloading and installing 2.2.11 and still get the same issue. Any ideas while I wait for 2.2.13?
