Thank you mrmist!! I started deleting plugins that way, and I also discovered in my php myadmin that the databases appear to be intact. So I think I have all the data, or most of what I need. Still going through the steps.

Then after I backed up the db, I deleted the rest of the plugins via ftp. (maybe should have done the full backup first?)

I don’t know, I’m still going through the steps but taking it slow today, after what happened yesterday (too hasty with the upgrade).

I just did the auto upgrade to 2.8.1 (I think that was it) and everything is gone – clean white page in both dash and on site.

Okay yes it was stupid but may I make a suggestion? Within the dashboard, a warning note about the plugins etc.? I tend to follow those when a big warning pops up.

So moving onwards here – what do I do NOW? What should be my first step? I probably have some backup but not all and that’s okay. I am willing to start over from scratch if necessary (it’s just my writing; I can write more). But want to put something up there without effing it up even more. Even a starter page.

p.s. I did not need the upgrade except for a plugin was requiring it, so I did it pretty quick. did not think. I don’t want to spend any time on upgrades actually, so in future that would be my wish. Can I upgrade without spending a lot of time on it? Thanks.
