    Hi,

@sterndata : I work on a local Mamp host, so it does not have an url.

@blade: Yes I can see that. I get a sneaky suspecion, that I dont want to update this website ever, and just let it run on a older version of wordpress ??

What I did: I had backed up a mamp folder, just about two weeks before the update. Lots of data lost, but at least it works.

However, now ive run into a problem with the database phpmyadmin – it says something with a file that is not supposed to be world writeable. Ive opned a new thread according to forum rules. Thank you for your time!

All right – Ive succeded in makin the two links into buttons – now I just want them seperated from the other links, so that the main navbar is centered and the two other links is to the right.

    Thanks Lyle!

Ive done it now – and its great!

I have one question though – I have created the three other sites (landing page, page 2-3) but the originally site where just installed directly into docs – is there any way to move the files into a folder, so that it is all sorted (I like to have clean folders ?? )

    Best regards

I actually did, but couldent make it work, so I created an entire new page, with a seperate wordpress installation to make it work.

    Hello again!

    @jan Dembowski:
I decided to follow your advice and just create three subsequent stand alone wordpress installations – I had allreadt spent too long on trying to make the multisite working.

Now I have the three stand alone installitions I am faced with another “problem” – I have originally installed the original wordpress instalation directly into the httdocs folder in the mamp folder. In here I now have three other folders with the other standalone instalations. Is there any way to move to originally site into a new folder within the httdocs folder, so that instead of alot of files and three other folders, I will just have four folders? Also – is it possible to change the name of the originally database, and the username for this?

Best regards and thanks for all the help

I maybe should have written this before, but I have allready created a locahost website on localhost:8888. This is almost ready to air, but afterwards my employee wanted more, so now its only to be one of 3 subdomains. So I have made a normal WordPress instalation and configured an entire website (created child theme, and so on). I have made a backup of the mamp folder, so I ready to try some stuff. I have changed the permalinks to “Year-date/postname”.

I actually have got the mamp pro version, but I cant get it to work, even though it recognizes that a localhost exists under “hosts”. However, I would be perfectly happy just to get it to work on the free mamp – as long as it works.

I can describe what Im trying to do, and maybe you can guide me ?

I created a website under localhost:8888 – I have done this as a job for my employeer as a student-helper. However, now it is wanted to create a splash-page called, lets say, mads.dk, and three sub-domains, called offentlig.mads.dk, privat.mads.dk and videnscenter.mads.dk.

Working in wordpress on the localhost I have, however, trouble creating more sites, as I can only figure out, how to work on this specific site (as all posts and such are being saved and transfered to the new child-theme, should I want to create one). I need to be working on 3 seperate sites, where posts, pages and plug ins do not intersect.

What I thought I would do, was to enable multisites. I have done so in my config file, making the network settings available under “tools”. But when I acces the network settings in order to get the code needed it says that I cant do this when I am working under 8888. Well I tried to change this by changing the appache port, but I guess, that when I have created the website under this 8888, I cant just change it. Under all curcumstances I cant access the localhost, when changing away from the apache 8888.

I really cant figure out where to go from here.

@cthomasfr – I am not sure, about wether the port is “open”. I just pressed the button in mamp to change the settings.

    Best regards

    Its “wordpress cant find database”.
Its wierd because it should be drawing on the same databases?

I have tried setting up the virtual host, but as I cant get my mamp pro to work, I cant test out if its working.

    Can you help me out?

    Best regards

I proberably should mention – I have all ready created one of the sites, wich is currently the main domain, which of course have to be the sub-domain from here on.

Well I want to create a splash page (I know they are bad for SEO) that can guide a user to three different zerif frontpages with different navbars, but that is still within the same domain – so sort of like sub-websites.

Its like the original zerif frontpage top, where there is a picture and then two buttons. Now, I want only the picture, and then three buttons – each of theese buttons leading to a new zerif lite frontpage with its own navbar menu, but still within the same domain

I guess that what I am trying to accomplish is to create a page where you can enter three different zerif frontpages, but at the same time they need to be with in the same domain – for an example landing page is Mads.dk where there are three buttons: public, private and center and when you click in to theese they will be called mads.dk/public and so on. Thus what I need to accomplish, is to have multiple frontpages, that exists within the same domain, that are bound together by a “parent frontpage”, where I just need a background and the three buttons.
