I have the same problem; mcrypt is installed and phpinfo() shows that it is active but Updraft does not detect it.

I am also using PLESK 12.

I hacked the code to mask out the content and also changed the avatar code so it displays locally loaded avatars as well – essentially short-circuited the existing code and added the standard wordpress get avatar call that I found on the Web.

It is a hack and I am not a programmer so I would not recommend anyone requesting that but I would be happy to oblige.

Ok it works now; I am not sure what the problem was but the sites were SSL protected and I unchecked “Do not save encrypted pages to Disk”. Not sure if that solved the problem or some updates to different plugins that may have been interfering but I do not believe that is the case; do not have time to experiment and find what fixed the problem.

Ok I backtracked and the Author and Commentor Avatars stopped displaying since upgrade to WP 3.4.

Something changed like avatar location.

I am using WP Multisite.

I thought the WP version would show up but it didn’t.

I am using WP 3.4.1 with all the latest updates.
