I had never heard of responsinator, so thanks for the link. Interesting how devices see the page in different ways.

I have tested the plugins by turning them off one by one and then testing the site, but in no case did the site improve. Not sure that was the only way to test plugins.

The child theme is the website, so no idea how it will look with the child theme turned off but will give it a try when I get into the office this morning.

I have my website back. I completely removed W3 Total Cache from the site, deactivated and deleted.

I also turned some plugins off, one by one, and then checked the page. The problem persists. Is that how you would deal with it, or is there something else I can try?

Oops, I am told by my web host that I have exceeded file space, the reason for the 503 error. Brother.

Will continue trying the fix when I am back online.

Sorry I didn’t see your reply until today.

I seem to have mucked things up.

Disabled W3 Total Cache, but my site disappeared. Now I get:

Service Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

Additionally, a 503 Service Unavailable error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Undid most of the changes, but page is still unavailable. Not sure what to do.

Maybe it was not the fault of W3 Total Cache. After disabling W3TC, the website problems cleared up, but sharing to Facebook continues to be gargled.

Twitter seems to be fine.

If anyone has a hunch why this might be happening or what they would do to find out, would love to hear it.

Yes, the disk space was full. And the server is Linux ??

Just occurred to me that you are talking disk space with my ISP and the link is server language… I’ll look into it.

It’s not a shortage of disk space.

Not sure I understand, but does your link refer to Linux? I thought sudo and chown were Linux commands.

I’m using Windows 10.

I messed it up a few times! For some reason it wasn’t saving in the dashboard editor, so I edited the files in the cpanel file manager, and…

Little confused… So this will appear in my child theme functions.php:

It doesn’t work. 16 appears in the featured posts, and the previous featured posts disappears, though it remains in the dashboard list.

I’m probably missing a big piece of the puzzle.

I have been playing around with the Ultimate Category Excluder plugin and it seems to do what I think I need.
