Brand new site (multisite), new WC 3.6.2 install, manually created one product, edited a page to use handpicked block – 1 product seen. Same positive result for the featured block. So that’s progress.

As I am in a multisite environment it is easy for me to create a whole new website and play around with importing etc – that’s what I am doing right now. I am trying to reset all the products so they all point to the original single image (not the -1, -2…-247 versions) and testing handpicked and featured.

But no way to do a test migration because the client is with Weebly and he has not yet signed up with SiteGround.

Let me finish up with this test website and report back on [a] images issue and [b] the blocks issue. Won’t be long….

I had previously tried clearing transients and tables and it had no effect but I did it again just now and sadly no change of status.

I have rolled back to WC 3.5.8, installed Woo Blocks and …. no change! Arghh!

I do have backups of the site but I can’t roll back because it’s in a multisite setup. I have several other development sites that I have been working on at the same time, so if I roll back on this I lose the work on the other ones…silly me huh!

What about if I do the following…
1. Export all products
2. Export all settings (is that even possible?)
3. Uninstall WC
4. Via PHPMYADMIN totally remove all traces of WC (tables, wp_options etc)
5. Install WC latest version
6. Import products (with no ID #s) and settings (or manually reset each one)
7 Hope that works?

But I still have the duplicate product images issue as well….

Added pressure…the site is slated for migration to a new live host on Friday 4th May.

No, there is no result from a search within the Handpicked or Featured product blocks; even if I copy and paste a product name in full it reports no products.

You may have hit on the problem. I already had WooCommerce Block plugin installed as I have been developing this site since before the last 3 WC updates. I thought I was using this plugin and wasn’t aware that it was integral to WC now.

So…I uninstalled the plugin…but that made no difference. I tried creating a new page and using Handpicked but it still reports zero products. I reinstalled the plugin again but I am not seeing any way to enforce the use of the extra plugin instead of the integral blocks and within a page I can’t tell which one I am using but my gut feel is that the integral one overrides the plugin version.

What next?

I followed your steps and created a new and unique product called Test Course 1 and exported all products. I edited the CSV file to remove all but the new product and created 3 more products in the spreadsheet (Test Course 2, 3 and 4). I then imported the CSV and 3 new products were visible …. but three new images appeared in the media library and each product points to a new image. My csv file is below:-

Just to prove the point I just created a test page using each of the WC blocks in order…they all work as expected except for the Handpicked and Featured products blocks.

Yes, the image did exist in the media library before I imported. I have listed three lines of the CSV file below and you’ll see that the same image URL was specified…

Sorry, I didn’t make myself clear on this one then. I fully understand why a block that had specified a product that was deleted and recreated with a new ID would no longer display the product….but….

The problem I have is that when I use the Handpicked block now – a new instance – it reports no products. Same for the featured block. But if I use any of the other blocks, it picks up the products.

They are all in the content.

If you set ‘Search in content’ (now set by default) I now get 9 results. So the change from ‘OR’ to ‘AND with…’ has made an improvement….just that last one result not being picked up.

Well, by 100% match I meant that if I search for ‘Eason’ in this site that I get the 10 matches because there are 10 instances of that word in posts.

I have just changed the behaviour setting from “OR” to “AND with…” and acknowledge the limitations of that setting (spaces only)

So my biggest concern here is that a search for “Eason” produces only 7 post results but there are 3 more that are not showing up.

Thanks for getting back.

1. OK, so WordPress and AS use different algorithms but neither are 100% accurate. Is there any way to tweak AS so it picks up a 100% match or is that asking the impossible.

2. I had to change the settings to exclude the in post content because the results were littered with far too many ‘partial matches’. In the example of the search on the name “Eason” the results included every post and page that had the word ‘reason’ or ‘reasons’ and also those with ‘season or seasons’ and the client didn’t like that.

Can someone find out and post back please.
