No point adding a screenshot – with the Social Widget active in the footer the reviews page is blank, with the Social Widget not active the reviews appear as you see them now.

To duplicate just use the Social Widget in the footer area and have a page that has WooCommerce Reviews displayed with the WC Block.

Ah, good spot. I changed to the Twenty Twenty theme and they all appeared OK. So I then changed to the Astra theme (parent) and they we still appearing OK and finally back to the Astra Child theme and they disappeared.

Which implies my Child theme is the problem. So I renamed my custom functions.php (which only has two minor tweaks – wp_mail_from and a filter to remove the WooCommere/Jetpack connection nag) and they appeared. I renamed it back again, refreshed and they still appeared. So maybe a cache issue?

Yes – by uninstalling WordPress Simple PayPal Shopping Cart and installing WooCommerce.

So what does that actually mean?

There isn’t an issue with the server or PHP because I just installed WooCommerce and set up the same products, payments etc and everything is working fine.

Finally, we had an order paid by Square….

And timing wise everything was just the same as the PayPal timings…pretty much instant.

So maybe the first three or four were just initial setup glitches? Who knows…let’s mark this as resolved now and if the problem arises again I’ll start a new thread!

I wouldn’t set as resolved yet. We’ve not had any other Square payments since. They have all been PayPal….bear with us please.

I am genuinely surprised and disappointed that there has been no response. Personally I have worked around the issue but I thought that out of respect to your fellow plugin developers at MainWP you might have at least made some contact.

Well, it’s doubly weird because we have seen orders placed within minutes of each other – one paid by PayPal and another by Square – and the PayPal order’s emails all arrive within seconds of the order completing, whereas the Square orders seem to take anything from 2-6 hours.

I will retain logging until we are closer to a cause but I wont use an SMTP plugin just yet – seems pointless anyway as emails are generated and sent perfectly well with PayPal orders and the normal site emails….but I reserve judgement on SMTP.

I’ll update again when we have a couple of Square orders to report on.

UPDATE:

I was under the impression that the client was not receiving any emails when customers purchased using Square. It turns out that this was incorrect! Sorry!

The problem is that the mails do arrive but they arrive after very long delays, unlike PayPal purchases, which appear to be pretty instant.

From the last 4 Square purchases the site emails arrived with a 2 hour delay, a 6 hour delay, a 3 hour delay and another 2 hour delay.?The client gets an email from Square before he ever sees an email from his own website.

Hopefully that narrows down possible causes?

OK, now it’s got super weird.

I just activated the PrintFul plugin and checked everything was working … and it is…plus Site Health has not kicked it out!

So resolved but no idea how or why or even if there was a problem to start with …. even though Site Health did email me (see original post).

I give up!

Hi,

There were three orders yesterday, two paid by Square and one by PayPal. The PayPal order generated all the expected emails, but the two Square payments generated only the emails from Square.

The two Square orders could have errors in the log but there is a time-shift of 6 hours.

#3907 completed at 14:16 and #3905 completed at 11:13 and the logs have two entries with 6 hour differences:-

1. Site Health is not a plugin it is a feature within WordPress (Tools>Site Health)

2. Has anyone from PrintFul ACTUALLY READ the original support post at the top of this thread? Read the very first post – ALL the information I have was put in that first post.

A. Site fully working since launch
B. WP updates to 5.2
C. The backend page display breaks and unable to create new pages/posts.
D. A message flashes up and an email is sent from the site (full content above)
E. Site Health deactivates the plugin with the problem – PrintFul
F. Backend page display returns to normal.
G. I contact PrintFul support and supply a description and the email in full.
H. Then we start going in circles…..
