Hi Jeremey,
Yes, I added the site icon through the customiser.
Your suggestion has worked. If site icons are not showing … just remove and add the site icon again through the theme customiser.
Many Thanks
Mark
Hi,
This is still an issue. No site icons show in the WordPress window.
Not fixed yet then?
Thanks
Regards MarkCena M advised me clearly that it “Error Fetching Plugins” usually happens when you have multiple Jetpack sites and usually one of them is failing to connect to WordPress.com …. so I disconnected the entire 22 sites from Jetpack … reinstated the primary site … deactivated all its plugins but Jetpack and CMS Tree … for diagnostic reasons … and low and behold … the same problem.
So Cena M was incorrect … nothing to do with a rogue site connecting badl … nothing to do with an existing plugin.I’ll tell you what it is. My instincts tell me it was the update. Before updating every site worked. After the update …. the plugin function is entirely broken.
Yeah … I’d bet on that.Has anyone else had this problem.
Can you advise me on a course of action … Thanks
Ok I’ve sent Jetpack Support these details as advised.
Ticket: [#3098385]
Chase L … your happiness engineer replied stating check browser’s javascript Console. so, i spent time preparing screenshots … sent the email over … then a follow-up email … nothing!. Happiness … not me.
I can conclude that it happens on both Chrome & Firefox so it is not browser-specific.
Can you advise me please?
Thanks Mark
Done. Thnakyou
Hi,
Would you be most kind as to do the following again please as I have exactly the same issue with another site … https://simonbaggaley.com
I found a communication problem where WordPress.com hadn’t correctly pulled a new full sync of your site’s settings. Scheduled a pull manually and looks like we have your settings correctly showing Jetpack 4.3.2 now.
Many Thanks for your help

Hi,
I received a communication from Jetpack Support.
I found a communication problem where WordPress.com hadn’t correctly pulled a new full sync of your site’s settings. Scheduled a pull manually and looks like we have your settings correctly showing Jetpack 4.3.2 now.
The problem has resolved itself now. i shall mark this as resolved with regard to the original thread made here.
Thanks for your help.
Regards Mark
Yeah … it seems to think it has an old Jetpack installed … throws up a message to update … when you click that it says … jetpack is up to date … but the little circle remains next to the wordpress installation under All My Sites … advising there is an update.
Seems similar to your experience @blmahonThanks Mark
Hi,
Not allowed to activate plugins … that doesn’t seem right. It just doesn’t seem to recognise the Jetpack version.
I’m not on a multisite network installation. All sites are setup identically … the others work fine.Have sent a private report as advised.
Many Thanks
Regards Mark
Thankyou,
problem resolved.
How? I hadn’t set the https:// in the wordpress General > Settings
Once done … works.
Thanks for all yuor help. sorry about the red herring.
Regards MarkHi, I’ve carefully followed your advice.
It seems to connect absolutely fine. However, if I log out of wordpress.com and login again … the sites are showing the red alarm error – the site cannot be accessed.
I have 16 sites in WordPress.com > My Sites
14 connect fine
2 have the connection problem … they are the two that I have recently applied the Let’s Encrypt SSLI would bet my house that if I applied the SSL to another site … that would follow the same pattern. The evidence is strong from a diagnostic point of view.
Many Thanks.
Regards Mark
There are SEO implications too.
I’m convinced … I will change all relative urls to absolute urls.
Consider resolved.
Thanks MarkHi jeremy,
Thanks for the response on this. Keep it as resolved … just a quick point …
I thought this was the case.
I use relative urls because I often create staging sites for clients so as to create changes and then bring them ‘live’. I’m sure you understand the use case for that. Otherwise, the images are all lost when moving to the staging site.
So, for that reason … I suppose I have to weigh up the “buy-off”.
Is it possible that Photon could be made aware of the image source url from the absolute path?
Could I feature-request this please?
Many Thanks

Regards MarkHi jeremy,
Will a reset of protect stats be in an upcoming jetpack version?
Clients want it reset … I say I can’t …. they look at me like I’m crap and say …. why not?
I have no real answer.
Many Thanks
