In reply to: [Newsletter - Send awesome emails from WordPress] Table of contentsI agree email clients may mess up internal links. Would it be possible to implement editing the [published] website version of the newsletter independently (after sending)?
OR … could there be code blocks that remain hidden in the outgoing emails yet appear in the published on-site version? The internal links could go in those blocks.

I’m no expert, but I’ve been running the Newsletter plugin for a number of years now. I specifically do not want (or need) to have newsletter subscribers as WP subscribers on my sites. There are no additional functions on the sites that require users to create an account or log in.
As a web developer, I’ve been struggling with PHP time/date formats for many years. I’m NZ based, but my hosting servers are in the USA. Getting my head around the various time shifts (even when only across the US) is nigh on impossible. I usually settle for a “trial and error” approach and hope for the best. Hats off to any plugin developers that can defeat this beast!!!
Just to add … I monitor all the posts here, but rarely reply. My Newsletter plugin performs beautifully and does exactly what I want it to do with no fuss. Well done!!

In reply to: [Newsletter - Send awesome emails from WordPress] Color Picker does not workWith so many plugins to cross-check, I’d be inclined to disable ALL of them for a very short period of time. Then at least you’ll know it IS a conflict – and not the Newsletter plugin itself.
After that – use the 50% method to narrow down the culprit. ie. Disable one half and test. Keep halving the offending half/quarter/eighth etc. and you’ll get there far sooner than just randomly disabling the odd few.
Also – it *could* just be a Javascript problem . Have you tried other browsers?

In reply to: [Newsletter - Send awesome emails from WordPress] Absolutely No Help“Optional” simply means that submitting the form won’t fail if that field is blank … but you may still get a line in outgoing emails that have the field label (eg. “Surname: “) followed by a blank (which may not be what you want).
Unticking the box will remove the field from the widget, but you may still have the label and tag in the HTML of your outgoing email templates (if you once had that field enabled).

In reply to: [Newsletter - Send awesome emails from WordPress] Absolutely No HelpAre you using the free or paid version of Newsletter? I have the paid version – and in Newsletter/Subscription/Form/Main Fields I have a checkbox for the Last Name field. On my version/site, unchecking it *does* remove it from the widget (I also have it in the R.H. sidebar). If you do manage to remove it from the widget, don’t forget to remove the entries for that field from the the response emails etc.

In reply to: [Newsletter - Send awesome emails from WordPress] Absolutely No HelpI’m not affiliated the the devs in any way, but I’ve been a happy user for a good few years – and upgraded to the paid version. I’ve always found support to be helpful, though it does sometimes take a while (I’ve no idea how large the team is).
Post the links to to the forum posts here and maybe I can help in some way.
Hi Mihai – thanks for your input. Good to know that deleting is safe. However, I didn’t do that – just updated to 3.57 and hoped for the best. So far so good. We’re now a good couple of days in – and many admin sessions as I checked things over. Looks promising!
I’ve installed over the top in the past (but the plugin still auto-updates – even when they’re disabled), but the developer suggests *deleting* the old version first.
If I delete 3.41 before going to 3.56, will I lose all my existing galleries and settings?
Thanks – but I did all that and the plugin ignored it and updated itself anyway. I then installed the “Easy Updates” plugin to see if that gave me better control, but 3.41 updated itself to 3.55 *again*.
This gets weirder and weirder …. I installed 3.41 and made sure auto-update was NOT enabled … yet it updated and crashed my site again. Back to square one :(((
Thanks, @kiwihawk – downgrade worked fine!
… and select 3.41 from the dropdown at the bottom of the page. When installing over the (de-activated) 3.55 it will prompt you. Just install over the top. I don’t think it matters which PHP version you’re running.
Thanks, Stefano! I’ll try that. Any chance of such a feature in a future upgrade?
Good to hear you can replicate it! Best of luck debugging!
