Thank you. I deleted the jetpack folder as you suggested. When I then tried to access the site I saw this:

Many thanks, Wpyogi. Jetpack is up and running thanks to your help. No, it did not come with WP, but I was able to install it once I treated it correctly as a plugin and not a theme.
