There was a bug that if you give 0 in answers section then it does not show the same option. I just add space before 0 and it worked for me.

I found some difficulty initially where to place the code. I have placed your middle two lines as it is given below

.nav-menu .current-menu-ancestor > a {
background-color: #B44A52;
color: #fff;
}

.nav-menu .current-menu-ancestor > a was already available for same purpose ( i think).

Can you please let me know how can i remove space (horizonal) between two menu as we can see clearly.

Hi Siobhan,

Sorry, I could not communicate properly.

Anchor hover is working properly. When user clicks on menu then menu background color and foreground color should change permanently so user will know which tab ( menu ) is active at this time.

I just added code in stylesheet but i did not get success.

i changed it to twenty twelve and it works with this theme. I was using w3cache and disable it but it did not work.
