Best method I know is to use the plugin Duplicator. It clones but at the same time also configures it to work locally based on the information you give it about where you’re moving to. I’m guessing it would also be great if you’re changing a domain name for a site or going back from localhost to the web. It was most effortless move to MAMP I ever came across.
