  • I just went back to BuddyPress. This is way too much work just to try to get it off the ground. I’m done.

OMG! What a great idea! This didn’t even occur to me but it’s very smart! You could show the client on a regular basis what’s going on with their site development, (and I’m pretty sure they can now leave comments if you have comments enabled on those Project Status pages), and having a PayPal gateway or invoicing option built into it would rock!

What is the easiest way to program this in? Maybe just provide the option via PayPal link to start off with and then the ideal would be to have it built into the system so you could invoice them at a given percentage of completion before progressing. What does anyone else think about this? Javascript and HTML should enable this easily. I suppose in the short term, we could just include PayPal links….

Whatever happened? Were you able to do this? I’m thinking of trying this plugin but I’m concerned with the volume of issues and potential for drama. Has this been resolved and if so, what did you do?

Is there a reason this happened? I have a website with quite a few plugins and I’m afraid to try this plugin if it’s going to corrupt a database or cause other drama.

What does that mean? Were you able to get this working? I’m testing it out now.

I don’t use Akisment. Never needed it. I make users log in and register to comment and this slows down the spam considerably. So, I don’t have Adisment and the form does seem to work off and on when I deactivate and then reactivate it, but it’s unpredictable when it will work or not work and my hosting company said they have no irregularities on their end. So I just deactivated the plugin completely for now on all my sites and just post an image of my e-mail address for people to e-mail me directly. For now it seems the only truly reliable way to have people e-mail you.

I have called GoDaddy twice and there is nothing wrong on their end from what they can tell me. My mailboxes have lots of room and space and the form is configured correctly and has worked fine before. Is there any way you can help clarify please? I can’t afford to lose any more potential clients who take the time to complete my screening form but then it won’t send after they spent the time to complete it. So…I’ll deactivate the plugin in for now and just post an old-fashioned e-mail link and phone number for now.

In my experience you can certainly do this but if a field is not required the person on the other end may not fill them in. My survey form is 25-30 questions long because I’m trying to qualify serious clients and most clients won’t answer a question unless it’s required that they do so and even then they don’t answer it completely or just fill in “see me.” In those cases, I just call them and screen them over the phone with the same survey form. But the form can allow as many questions as you want. Hope that helps.

I don’t want to post if it is not appropriate, but I would like to respond directly to the above comments if I may. I have been experiencing the same issues with the spinning circle image, but I have also experienced the message saying that it is not sent or has not been sent and then receiving it and then on the other hand I have had a client say he filled out everything and the form would not allow him to submit. I called GoDaddy and asked them to review error logs and there was nothing they were aware of and said all my mailboxes had lots of space available and should be working correctly on their side. Could this be some kind of redirect issue somehow? I’ve used this plugin for years and sporadically had problems with it not working. I’d deactivate it and reactivate it and then it seemed to work okay again for a while but no one has (to my knowledge) ever pinpointed an exact work-around or fix.

I will try removing the GoDaddy e-mail address. Maybe that particular mailbox is not responding for some reason. GoDaddy has no idea why it’s not going through and the inbox is not full, so I’m going to see if it will work just sending directly to gmail. com.

Sounds logical. Assuming this is the case, are there any potential solutions you could recommend? GoDaddy is fine with hosting and limited tech support but I doubt they will know how to reconfigure any information to better acclimate toward the CF7 plugin. Is there a way to adjust settings you could suggest?

I recall similar “outages” happening before. I would deactivate and reactivate and the plugin would appear to work again until the next “outage.” What do you think?

Yes, I have actually called GoDaddy.com. They said that I could receive a fairly large number of e-mails going through them daily and it has worked before many times, but sporadically it seems like it needs to be deactivated and then reactivated and I’m trying to figure out what’s going on. According to GoDaddy.com the limit on e-mails has yet to be reached that I can receive.

I have lost customers as a result of this form not sending and customers not responding after going through the time to fill out the form and then it doesn’t send. It seems like it can only handle a certain number of 3-4 messages or sends and then shuts down and needs to be reactivated daily. Can anyone please address this issue? I’ve already had several potential clients complain to me that they spent time filling out my survey form and then it did not send and they didn’t want to provide the information again.

If this plugin does anything at all that I can see, is it creates a page called Events and that’s all. I can more easily create a link in a text widget and link to a page on my site and then link it to an e-commerce platform for people to register. So…I’m sure this works as you say, but it’s a time issue. Maybe the instructions need to be clarified for easier use and set up. As it is now, I appreciate your kind response and I’m sure this works just fine with time and effort; but I am happier using my time to create a page, link to a text widget and set up e-commerce in that. it’s just easier than going through all this.

Thank you. I think this is a great plugin and use it on almost every site I create for clients. Keep rocking it!
