You could try editing index.php and removing the ‘ on line 17 and also the extra . Hopefully that should fix your database connection problem as well.

I can only suggest manually copying it in yourself. Also, are you using 000webhost? Forgive me if I’m wrong but I am and the FTP root starts with /public_html/.
