Also, another member alerted me to a known issue in WP3.5.1 — for some reason, despite being marked as a link-to-media, the shortcode (in the Text tab) for the gallery is lacking:
link="file"
Adding that is the equivalent of doing the steps I previously mentioned. Hope that helps someone else in a similar predicament.

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] Works well in one site, not at all on anotherAh, thanks RavanH… that’s great info!
I found a workaround in the meantime as well:
– Edit the gallery
– Change the Link To: Media File over to Attachment Page… then back to Media File
– Update gallery
– Update postThis works — see the difference between:
https://dev.cherrycountyplayhouse.org/scrapbook/grease/ (working)
and:
https://dev.cherrycountyplayhouse.org/scrapbook/lunch/ (not working, as of this minute, but will be soon!)Thanks again – very helpful.
Just FYI, I found a “fix”, though I’m not sure what did it — seems to be a glitch in WordPress Galleries > Media File vs. Attachment Page settings…
I got another tiled gallery to open lightbox images at: https://dev.cherrycountyplayhouse.org/scrapbook/the-presidents/
What I did was Edit the gallery, and no matter what it said the Gallery “Link To” option was, I set it to Attachment Page, clicked Update Gallery, then the overall Update for the post. It gave (predictably) the attachment page.
When I went back into edit the Gallery settings, I switched that to Media File, and Updated both it and the post/page. This 3rd changeover made the proper lightbox function.
Now to do the same for 50+ other galleries… :-/ Unless you can spot the issue? I tried to reset Permalinks, as I noticed that sometimes fixes similar issues. No luck…
Bizarro.

In reply to: [Firelight Lightbox] Works well in one site, not at all on anotherAh, thanks gman243 — I’ve ditched this plugin in favor of something that a). works and b). has some form of response from its developers. :-/ But thanks for the suggested method for getting things going!
Peace.
Thanks Jeremy — it’s becoming clear that Jetpack is not at fault, so I’ll try to take it up with lightbox plugin makers (of which none have responded in a week, but that’s beside the point!). Thanks for your time/effort on my behalf, even when it isn’t really your plugin’s issues that are causing all the problems. Jetpack’s Tiled Gallery looks fine — the lightbox options are not working.
Case in point: just got the 2nd lightbox item to work by (as you suggested) redoing the Gallery and tweaking the Appearance settings for that particular plugin — but it only worked for the link: https://dev.cherrycountyplayhouse.org/scrapbook/tommy/, not for: https://dev.cherrycountyplayhouse.org/scrapbook/the-presidents/ etc. So, that is where I will have to dig further.
Thanks again,
Steve C.
3CstudioI went into the test site now, deactivated Easy Fancybox, and added a different lightbox plugin (per the list you suggested), called: Lightbox Plus ColorBox — it is now activated. Still no lightbox functionality on https://dev.cherrycountyplayhouse.org/scrapbook/tommy/.
I went into the Gallery Settings for that page, and confirmed the Gallery Settings were set to:
– Link To: Media File
– Type: Tiled Mosaic
… but clicking the first image takes me to a page instead of the Media File: https://dev.cherrycountyplayhouse.org/scrapbook/tommy/tommygypsy2/The only Plugins remaining are:
– Akismet (inactive)
– Easy Fancybox (inactive)
– BackupBuddy
– Gravity Forms
– Jetpack for WordPress
– Lightbox Plus ColorBoxThat’s it. Still no lightbox…
Any further thoughts? Thanks in advance!

just seeing if I could ping this conversation to liven it up again…
Ah, the Deactivate button is ‘hidden’ until you click Learn More. ??
So, the lightbox affect is not native to Jetpack?
I have Easy FancyBox working in conjunction with Jetpack on: https://www.zahnhomes.com/portfolio/great-rooms/ but Easy FancyBox is not working nicely with: https://dev.cherrycountyplayhouse.org/scrapbook/tommy/ yet, now that I installed it and activated it (after deactivating Carousel).
Any thoughts?
Hi Jeremy,
I have a bit of the opposite issue from those before, in that I wanted to use the lightbox effect for Tiled galleries, but it was going to the post instead (no matter what I did when saving its features to go to Media File instead of Attachment Page), which is not nearly as pretty. ??
So, I Activated the Carousel feature to see if that works — and it does. But I would prefer the Tiled Galleries click to a lightbox effect — and now I can’t find where to disable the Carousel to keep working at lightbox display… I guess my issue is two-fold in that sense: a). deactivate carousel in favor of b). a *working* lightbox.

It’s a basic 2012 install with minimal plugins at this point, so I couldn’t discern any conflicts…Can you help? Thanks in advance!

In reply to: Tiled Gallery for WordPress 3.5Consider using WordPress.com’s Jetpack-Tiled Galleries:
https://jetpack.me/support/tiled-galleries/
It’s just one of the many features now available to .ORG sites that were previously part of the .COM options: https://jetpack.me/
