Not really getting anywhere with this so will probably have to look elsewhere and maybe try WooCoomerce’s own Royal Mail plug in.
Your plugin is causing the issue. When your plugin is not activated there is no issue with the 3rd party plugin. I have spoken to them and they say it’s an issue with your plugin.
I can’t continue this conversation on your website as I don’t have a paid subscription and I just go round in circles trying to log in.Could there be a conflict with Advanced Free – Flat shipping WooCommerce – Pro by PI Websolution?
Some of our products are big and can only be delivered by us locally by lorry. I use Advanced Free – Flat shipping WooCommerce – Pro plugin for all local free delivery options and local delivery over certain amounts plus limit local delivery to some specific postcodes – works great.
On products we can post out, we use your?Royal Mail Live Rates plugin. The trouble I have is, as stated already, instead of the cart page showing?‘Shipping costs are calculated during checkout’. – I get the Royal Mail Live rates showing instead. This means it looks like the big stuff, that we only deliver locally, can be posted out.
We keep getting people ordering products we cannot post out because of this issue.
Can you suggest any fixes? Anything I can do with your plugin to make this work?I still have this issue.
I have the ‘Hide shipping costs until an address is entered’ ticked in WooCommerce settings but it is still showing shipping options on the cart page.
I have tried using Incognito mode in Chrome and Private Tab in Firefox so as to bypassing any caching but still get shipping costs displayed when it should say ‘Shipping costs are calculated during checkout’.
When I deactivate Royal Mail Live Rates plugin it all works as it should – I get the ‘Shipping costs are calculated during checkout’.
I have 2 additional shipping zones with rates in payment settings (including flat rate) and this works correctly when your plugin is deactivated.
As soon as your plugin is activated again, it shows your rates on the cart page – which is incorrect. Here is a screenshot that the CLIENT took when he saw the same issue I was seeing.

How can this be?No, doesn’t work as it should – I don’t get ‘Shipping costs are calculated during checkout’ message – I just get the product price as a sub total.
It’s only when I input the address on the checkout does the flat rate shipping appear. Your Royal Mail Live Rates don’t appear anywhere, not even as an option. When adding a Flat Rate I just get product sub total on cart page and flat rate gets added when I input my details on the checkout page.
Royal Mail Live Rates don’t appear anywhere.I know I said before we had another website where it was working OK – turns out the same thing is happening here too. https://bbqgasbottles.co.uk has exactly the same issue.
Still have the same issue. Using Incognito mode but still it displays the Royal Mail Live rates instead of ‘Shipping costs are calculated during checkout’.
Try yourself, go to:
https://rentfreegascylinders.co.uk/shop/winter-fuels/gbd-kiln-dried-birch-kindling-fire-lighting-wood-4kg-netted/
and add to the basket, then view basket and see what it says. Finally got hold of WC who say that because WC works fine when your plugin is deactivated, then it’s your plugin that is the issue.
They recommend we look at their own Royal Mail plugin instead to see if that works better.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WooCommerce] Hide shipping costs until an address is entered not workingYes, you are correct, both sites have the same settings but rentfree sometimes shows the Royal Live Rates in the cart instead of ‘Shipping costs are calculated during checkout’?.
If I de-activate the Royal Mail Live Rates then the cart shows the correct message.
I have spoken to the plugin developers who say:
If ‘Shipping costs are calculated during checkout’ is a WC native option, then it is WC responsibility to hide it. However, it doesn’t and Royal Mail rates are shown. That’s why please contact directly with WC support. They will have more knowledge about WC mechanism as it’s their plugin and should be able to help you with this. From our side, it’s not something what our plugin is responsible for. It does what it should – shows live rates. So, if you are using WC for hiding it, but it doesn’t work, then it has to be explained with WC.
They say it’s down to WC.As I said, it’s not a paid for extension therefore all I get is: Note that we only provide support through this form for products offered on?WooCommerce.com. If you only use WooCommerce core and/or need help with extensions sold on other platforms, please use the?forums?as we won’t be able to help by email.
I have to use WC, obviously, so looks like I will have to find an alternative to your plugin that will work. I think WC have a Royal Mail plugin that I will have a look at.
Not ideal, but what choice do I have.I’m getting zero response from WC as it’s not a paid for extension therefore I have to go through the forum – the same as this and they are not responding.
Any other way I can contact them? The ‘Hide shipping costs until an address is entered‘ should override any shipping options from showing. Basically it’s saying we’re not showing you any options until you put in your address. It’s native WC, there’s no plug-in to show this message.
Any idea why it works OK on one site and not on the other?
I have set up a staging site for rentfree and have deactivated all plugins apart from woocommerce and Royal Mail Lives Rates and I still don’t get the ‘Shipping costs are calculated during checkout’ message unless I de-activate Royal Mail Lives Rates.
