Settings of the gallery have categories management section on the right side block. There you can select main category for every current gallery. So this way you can build structure with main and sub categories. Please try to create it this way and if it’s not gonna work drop a line here.

Of course, you can customize settings of every gallery depend of your needs. You can insert unlimited amount of galleries to your wordpress page. Every gallery in your blog will have different settings.

Please try to check your content of the page where gallery published to make sure that it’s do not contain HTML errors. For this proposal you can use online W3 validator.
If you use gallery in posts/pages with complex content or some content which was imported by some convert tools try to use it in basic post/page for the begin.

In gallery settings you can find this option: General Gallery Thumbnail
Values for this option random or first image from the current gallery will be title image for the case if you have complex gallery structure.

When you open gallery settings find Image manager button. Every image have set of the settings which you can see when after click on image. Link field you can find on bottom of this settings list. Just insert link to this field and save gallery settings. When you load post with gallery on the front end you will see gallery image with link.
Yes, you can combine video and regular links on the same gallery.

Our gallery backend core functions work as it’s required in wordpress developer guides, sticked to wordpress core. Image manager it’s one of the modules which work based on wordpress media manager api, so if you click on Select Images button and it’s doesn’t work, I guess, you have some problems in your wordpress admin section in general. Our plugin tested on different systems and platforms from PHP 5.3 to PHP 7.1 included. On all popular browsers and all popular mobile and PC platforms. We didn’t find any bug on published version of the gallery plugin, but of course you could have some special configuration or maybe conflict with another plugin.
