  • I need this function too. I need to have certain pages noindex and no plugin has been able to do it even though they all say they can.

I saw an article that in Sept Google is changing what will be acceptable to noindex so I am of the mind that if the plugins do not work now, what will happen when Sept rolls around?

So I am left with the prospect of individually going in an coding each page myself! But at least then I will know it’s done and won’t suddenly not work because a plugin was doing it the unacceptable way (if I could even get one to work now). Not a happy camper at all!

BUT cannot find how to access the actual html of a Page. NOT a universal header change! I certainly don’t want to noindex my entire site!

Is there any hope for me, a non-geek?

    Found https://carolresearch.com/researchblog/sitemap-1.xml
BUT it has the Pages that I marked noindex, nofollow

That one was created by JetPack.

Smart Crawl and others say they cannot FIND a sitemap at all!
    What is going on???

How do I get the setting on the individual Pages to work?

PS: I don’t have Yoast, deleted it when I saw they will soon be not working on non-Gutenberg sites. I will not be “upgrading” to it ever.

There’s a plugin that you can use to selectively “Hide Forever” notices/nag screens.

    Webcraftic Disable Admin Notices Individually

    Hope this helps you.

I know, it’s not been tested on my version 4.9.10 – thought I’d try anyway. I am totally frustrated, can’t find a plugin that actually WORKS to noindex and nofollow.

Thank you! I do use Hostgator so I think between this and other information I have found, I am all set.

Sorry, I was longwinded but it does explain the problem.

In permalinks I do not want and never put the date in the url, i.e., 2019/05/05.

The default “archive” by date is useless, I have never used one on other sites in all the years. Besides being useless, it creates “duplicate content” penalties.

I set the permalinks to be clean, title only, no date, /title
BUT search engines show them WITH the date, 2019/05/05/title
Url in the Edit screen shows NO DATE.
How did the date get added for the search engines?
How do I kill it for those already out there and for all future posts/pages?

The PROBLEM is that when they are in search results WITH the date, clicking shows a NOT FOUND ERROR! Because the real link is WITHOUT the date.

Not all of my pages/posts can be found in search engines so I don’t know how each of them would appear. I have created redirects for those that do appear and finally those appear correctly now in the SEs.

I created general ones also to hopefully catch others as they get indexed.

I am a research site so therefore most of my urls are timeless material and should not have a date.

I don’t want to have to check up on search engines to make sure all future posts and pages do not have a date. I want the date permanently GONE from everything.

Found it under the different name.

Found it! I was looking at the top of the list for Clearfy, not at the bottom of the list for another name.

Another problem I see is only in the last couple of days did my host put on the S in https. I made a redirect from http to https with regex. Have been going thru my site and each one shows up differently, some even on a different search! Have no clue because I was using Yoast and would not have mixed urls! The whole thing is a mess that I cannot seem to fix in every case. Some yes, more no.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have tried all of the above. The point is, people who view my site will be using various browsers, various editions, and various systems. I can test in all of them but when some don’t show, that means some visitors won’t see them either. Plus most of them will not be using incognito.

Cannot be that my systems or browsers are blocking images because I see images from other sites just fine. Everything is normal on all other sites.

They need to show in all browsers and on all systems, not just some.

I have tried every test found on all kinds of forums. If I can see them in some, it cannot be a server problem. I have no adblocker blocking, have cleared the cache, done everything until I am going batty. The same html code should show everywhere, why doesn’t it?

I was creating pages and all was well until early/mid December when I could no longer see the images in Visual editor. Then to my horror found the pages I had already published were faulty also. Tested in various ways, found some work, some don’t. Thought it was TinyMCE but that wouldn’t be it if I could see images some places. I need the images to show for all browsers and on all systems. It’s crazy that it doesn’t.

If you have access to various browsers and various systems, please try those. The one you tried it on may be one of those were they do show. But that doesn’t guarantee that all visitors will have the same OS and same browser as you have. I.e., on my Win 7 FF does not show but Chrome does.

I think I have narrowed down the problem. Tinymce needs to be refreshed. BUT that is in the wp-content folder which would not be refreshed when I run your program. Is that correct?

The question now is, does the wp-content/js/tinymce folder contain any of my content that would be destroyed if I replaced the entire folder with new? or which files within that folder would contain my content?

You can see the problem with explanation as to all the things I have already tried to fix it at carolresearch.com/researchblog.

Had to contact Hostgator again. They had said that my site PHP was upgraded to 7.1 but IT WAS NOT! Finally, it now has been.
    You are running WordPress 4.9.9 | PHP 7.1.14 | Apache | MySQL 5.6.41-84.1

But your plugin still does not work even so. I had thought maybe that was the problem, but it is not.

I need to refresh the core!!!! I thought by downgrading that would work, but I cannot downgrade, it still keep saying 4.9.9 and the footer confirms that.

    Am hosted with Hostgator.

Step 1, this is what I get:
WP Downgrade: Active (WP 4.9.7 is set as target version)

Step 2, click one of these:
In order to perform the upgrade/downgrade to WP 4.9.7 please go to Update Core.

    Up-/Downgrade Core

Step 3, this is what I get:
You have the latest version of WordPress.

    Learn more about WordPress 4.9.9.

    Plugins

Your plugins are all up to date.

I need to REPAIR that version, would be happy with .7 or .8. My site is BROKEN otherwise!

I see everybody happy with this plugin and I can’t get it to work!

I have installed a plugin to tell me in the footer what version I have, this is what it says AFTER I run your plugin:
    You are running WordPress 4.9.9 | PHP 5.5.37 | Apache | MySQL 5.6.41-84.1

It says this even though I updated PHP to 7.1! I do not understand what is going on, I am NOT a programmer! I just want it to work the way things are supposed to work.

And my site is STILL BROKEN!!!!
