In reply to: [Newsup] Header colour backgroundMany thanks themeansar.
Child theme up and running nicely. Just a few tweaks to get my customisations back.
Thanks for your prompt help and patience.

In reply to: [Newsup] Header colour backgroundI’ve followed both links you gave me to create a child theme but whichever I follow with its different codes I get a message that it’s installed but the ‘stylessheet is missing’. Perhaps I’m entering the persoanal changes in the style.css file incorrectly.
The link is https://gator3321.hostgator.com:2083/cpsess3916165451/frontend/hostgator/filemanager/index.html

In reply to: [Newsup] Header colour backgroundMany thanks themeansar. I’ve located my wordpress installation on the computer so I’ll get on to it.
The remove image has already worked thanks in restoring the Header background to what it was before the update.
One other question:
How do we enjoy the benefits of an updted theme once we’ve set up our child theme?

In reply to: [Easy Updates Manager] 2 twin sites – 2 different theme versionsBcrodua
Manual installation is beyond me at the moment as I’ve come into WordPress ‘on the ground floor’ and can only manage the basics. That’s why I wanted a programme like Easy Updates Manager to do it!!
Thanks

In reply to: [Easy Updates Manager] 2 twin sites – 2 different theme versionsThanks for your reply Bcrodua.
But that’s the problem too. I can’t see a folder for Plugins on my Dashboard! I’ve looked everywhere for it! Other folders I see, on the postings in places like YouTube of helpers’ computers, seem to have quite a lot more folders than I do in the admin display of my Dashboard. Such as ‘tools’.
I can add a folder for plugins on my host server. I can download the Easy Updates Manager to my computer. But when I try to upload it into my host it says it only accepts files, not folders and there’s no installation file in the Easy Updates manager folder.
I’ve got WordPress 4.9.9 on Windows 10.
Any other ideas?
DavidI get the following error message appearing in send and receive even though I still get email (but not on my iphone)- so it must be able to connect to the server. My username, password etc are all correct according to my host hostgator.com.
Any ideas why?Task ‘Synchronizing subscribed folders for [email protected].’ reported error (0x800CCC0E) : ‘Outlook cannot synchronize subscribed folders for [email protected]. Error: Cannot connect to the server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).’
Thanks

In reply to: [Easy Updates Manager] 2 twin sites – 2 different theme versionsHi
I have 4.99 wordpress and need to update to 5.1.
I found doing it manually myself was too long-winded and complicated for me
So I got Easy Updates Manager, thinking that would be ‘easy’.
However, it’s read me instructions say:
1. Upload the Easy Updates Manager folder to the ‘/wp-content/plugins/’ directory (make sure it is unzipped). Butit only updates files, not folders!
2. Activate the Easy Updates Manager plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress. How can I if I don’t have a ‘plugins’ menu in wordpress?!
3. Configure the plugin by going to the ‘Update Options’ section in your admin area under the Dashboard. Hopefully this would appear after the update??What I’ve done:
I’ve added a folder for ‘plugins’ in the hostgator file manager.
I’ve downloaded and unzipped the ‘stops-core-theme-and plugin-updates’ folder
I’ve tried to upload this folder into that plugin folder, but it won’t work as it only accepts files, not folders. Many instructions and forums keep telling me I can do it on my wordpress dashboard admin area, but it seems to lack a number of folders that helpers have in their videos or computer screen images.
I saw somewhere about clicking on ‘tools’ plugin on wordpress dashboard. Is this the answer if when it’s updated they’ll be necessary tools to do other jobs?
If so, I’m back to square one trying to install a folder for ‘tools’ into the admin are of the wordpress dashboard.
Any help welcome!
David
