Zombie menu won't die

    I am trying to delete a menu in Appearance > Menus. After I click the delete link, the UI message says menu deleted, but the items are still listed, the menu is not really deleted. I have deactivated all plugins, tried again, no success. I’ve tried to remove the menu items one by one, no luck there either, the items can’t be deleted.

    Are your hosting providers caching your site?
    Is the issue specific to a theme?

    Don’t know re caching or other themes. I am now removing the menu items directly from database. Funny how pages and menu items are considered “posts”.
    This is just an experimental site so not much risk in playing around.

    I still can’t delete the menu itself even though it has no items. I don’t know where the menu itself is stored in the database.

    And just in general, I can’t find where the menu item display text is stored, I’ve looked all over. I guess it’s taken from the name of the page it’s linked to?

    Needed DELETE privilege on database.
