Zlib Output Compression Enabled, but …

    Yes, I have “Zlib Output Compression Enabled!” as the WP Super Cache plugin warns. But I have not enabled “Compress pages” in the plugin, so that’s OK, right? If OK, how can I turn off the warning?

    Thanks for writing in. There isn’t a conflict, but WP Super Cache is warning you that your site is running inefficiently.

    It is more efficient to turn off zlib.output_compression and turn on Super Cache’s “compress pages” feature, as Super Cache is able to compress the page content once when caching it, instead of every time the page is served.

    There is no option in Super Cache to turn off the warning, but it is safe to ignore if you don’t mind the performance trade-off.

    Thank you. The thing is, the WordPress module is just one part of my web site. So I want the zlib output compression for the rest of it (and the WP admin pages). I wonder if I could turn off the zlib compression for specific directories.

    You can research ways to keep zlip output compression active only for selected pages but keep it turned off for the rest of your pages.

    However, these sorts of customizations fall outside the scope of support for this forum thread.
