I know this has been treated before (I read all posts), but I think it’s worth a small bump:

Duplicator is absolutely of commercial level, except for this incompatibility with ZipArchive non-enabled hosts. Please, do consider of fixing this.

Basically I can use duplicator for home testing but never for work.

After some months I wrote again to this hosting Aruba but I know them and it will took them years to upgrade their php and include that extension.
You are right in saying that’s simply dumb running a hosting company like that, but cheap is cheap, and that’s what you get when your customer counts the dimes.

Instead Duplicator isn’t cheap, it shouldn’t be free. The Standalone installer is genius! Too bad other plugins can work without ZipArchive and Duplicator can’t.

I encourage you to find an alternative to ZipArchive.

    Hey Cyberchicken,

Thanks for the feedback! I have teamed up with another freelancer and we are working on a pro version that we plan to eventually incorporate tar support into and pending its success other possible zip libs. It probably won’t be integrated on its first release, but it is on the table to integrate into the pro version. Free will always remain free, but will most likely have some limitations…

    Cheers~
