Zip+4 Issue

Hi there,

Can you share screenshots of how you set up your shipping methods for zip+4 free local delivery?

I did share a link to a screeenshot. Can you not click on it?

We didn’t do anything to specifically to address zip+4. We specified free delivery in multiple zip codes with normal five digit zip codes. The free delivery option disappears when a customer enters a zip code in the form of zip+4.

Hi @bradkitson – The screenshot you shared is of the Shipping Zones, but not of the Shipping Methods. We’ll need you to click on the Shipping Zone, then take a screenshot of that. Additionally, click on the Free Delivery option within the zone, then send a screenshot of that as well.

We’ll then try testing this on your site once we have that information. ??

In order to take the +4 into consideration as well, you’ll want to add a * after each of the 5-digit zip codes in the settings you showed us here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bb25yfccj0xesfn/Screen%20Shot%202020-10-08%20at%2010.54.11%20AM.png?dl=0

For instance:

94002*...94999*
95002*
95008*...95009*
95011*
95013*...95015*

This will ensure that all +4’s are taken into consideration as well. These are just “numbers”, so it’s not quite smart enough to assume the +4 is within that range, especially considering you could define different rates for each +4 as well.

I recommend that you update your documentation to include the wildcard for zip codes.

When I do: 94002*…94999* only zip+4 works and not a regular zip.

The ranges seem to have a problem in my website. I have to double enter them with and without the wildcard.

Hi @bradkitson – I’ll look into that documentation. As for the wildcard in the range, try this: 94002...94999*

That was a mistake on my part. That should check starting from 94002 up to 949999999.

….of postcodes (one per line); a range of postcodes (e.g. 90210…99000), or use wildcards (e.g. CB23*).

The problem with the docs is that most everyone needs to use wildcards. Without wildcards, zip+4 fails. Some percentage of careful customers will use zip+4.

94002…949999999 fails. That range supports 95001.

I want to make sure I understand correctly what you mean.

Are you trying to exclude 95001?

95000 & 95001 are excluded in the sequences provided previously in the thread.

940001…949999
9400001…9499999

continue till you cover the possible post code lengths.
