I have a site already, but need to recreate it in a sub directory to get a fresh site..
I have uploaded the installer file and the zip file to the sub directory ( which already has a fresh new wordpress install in it)
the installer errors and tell me I need to have the zip file in the same directory as the installer ( which it is)

I created the initial dup files from a root folder install.

dose this new install have to be in the root folder or can it be in a directory or the site ( a directory that as an install of wordpress in it..
domain.com already has an install or wordpress
Domain.com/mysite has new install of wordpress. ( this will become the default install..

Just to add. this is the error I get

    server code: 200
    status: OK
    response:
    INSTALL ERROR!
The packaged zip file was not found. Be sure the zip package is in the same directory as the installer file. If you are trying to reinstall a package you can copy the package from the “wp-snapshots” directory back up to your root which is the same location as your installer.php file.

Submitted a ticket hoping to get a quicker response…
sorry need to sort this urgently

    Hi Wealthy,

Sorry I don’t get to the forums every day… Anyways to address the issue your seeing you will have the best success if you place just the installer and package into an empty directory.

    Hope that helps!

    Cory hi mate..

I was hoping you would kindly help me out once you have read this from me.

Like the above member, Wealthy, I’m getting to very same problem using your plugin:

    server code: 200
    status: OK
    response:
    INSTALL ERROR!

I can say that i have, as far as i can see done everything i can to get this working. I have followed just about every video online that i can find and have followed them to the “T”.

Both files are place in a clean and empty Directory so after all i have watched and read about the plugin, t should work just fine.. But for me, no..

    Please please help!!!..

    Regards & thanks in advance.

mm from memory I had to unzip everything, upload via ftp and then run the installer from a browser line like https://mydomain.com/installer.php
(not sure of the exact name for the installer so above line is a guess..
    hope this helps

Hi Wealthy.. Good of you to add you’re comment, thanks mate. Sadly I have uploaded both ways via https://FTP.. zipped and unzipped, but the bloody thing simply doesn’t want to play.. I wondered if it was a problem with Hostgator, as I’m trying to clone an existing site to a new domain within the same live server. But they said that over time, they have had a lot of questions from people around the world regarding Duplicator plugin and Hostgator accounts and all works fine with Hostgator! so god only knows what the problem I’m having with it is!?!?… I will keep trying though as the plugin clearly works for others so it simply must be something I’m doing maybe..

    Thanks again Wealthy

I did do mine in hostgator.

Ok from memory ( as it was a little while ago) I installed wordpress in my hosting.
then unzipped the backup and uploaded it ALL to the hosting as it was, over writting all files already installed on the hosting.
then ran the installer file. that was the only way I got it to work.

Sorry I cant be of any more help other than trying myself ??

It is only the LARGE files I had a problem with.
I have done it twice before with smaller zipped files and it worked ok.
but the one I had a problem with was 217 mbs i think

Ahh!.. I see you’re point with regards to the size.. You had a problem with 217MB and what I’m trying to upload is 370MB. I guess this is my problem!.. I will strip out a few plugins and whatever else i can get away with dumping and try try try again!..lol.. Will let you know how i get on and post what i find here for anyone that ay have the same future issues..

    Thanks again Wealthy.. Good of you mate ((-;

Yea definitely think it is a size thing. Maybe the hosting has a problem with time out or something.

My site was a woocommerce site so all those images would have caused a large file size too

Maybe copy all of the images off as well and then Dup the site and upload the images back later.

I would say if you remove plugins it was change site and you will have to re-configure the site again.

    just a thought

Only gonna dump whats not needed.. I have installed plugins that I’m not going to need on the final cloned site mate..

What I’m basically doing is taking over a second pub here in the UK and want to clone my existing website over to the new pubs domain name.. Although design and colour scheme I will change to make appear different i want to keep the core menus, reservation, and take away menus the same so easier to just clone then strip out and change the new site..

Well here goes! wish me luck.. lol

well also remove the old WP themes that are stored in there too taking up space..
    just keep your own theme.
But put 2015 (or 2014) back later incase you need to swap themes during a crash or something.

also can do a database cleanup with a plugin to reduce the size of the database which ends up with heaps of crap in it..

    good luck

    Hey Wealthy…

Just to let you know, I have managed to finally get a successful upload! (Has take hours though) And you were bang on correct. It seems that size really does matter..haha.. Also, extracting all files from the zip and manually uploading via FTP worked perfectly. So Thanks again for you’re help and comments, and a very happy new year to you mate!!..

    Cheers..

Glad to hear it finally worked. So I wonder if it is just hostgator or if it happens at other hostings as well.

Well lesson learnt and hope our conversation can help others in future.
If it does please let us know in here.

Happy New year to you too Webhive.
    Good luck with the pubs.

Its it true you really sell warm beer when it is cold over there.
Here in Australia our beer has to be always cold lol.

Thanks for helping out with that one Wealthy!
