• I’ve downloaded wordpress-3.3.1.zip several times over the past couple weeks and even several times today. I can’t extract the files, so I can’t FTP it to my host to set up my website.

When I right-click to Properties > Details, I can see that the folder has 771 KB of data.

However, when I try to extract / decompress the files, I get the following error:

    Compressed (zipped) Folders Error
    Windows cannot open the folder.
The compressed (zipped) folder (…)/wordpress-3.3.1.zip is invalid.

Is there a mirror where I can redownload WordPress, or some other solution? Thank you!

To clarify, I get the error message above when I double-click to open the folder.

When I manually navigate to the parent folder (Desktop) and right-click on the .zip and click “Extract All,” I get the following error:

Cannot Complete the Compressed (zipped) Extraction Folders Wizard
The compressed (zipped) folder is empty.

Before you can extract files, you must copy
files to this compressed (zipped) folder.

OK, I used BlueHost’s 1-step install, but I’m leaving this message open in case it helps others. This appears to still be a problem. Thanks!

I’ve just downloaded a copy and opened the zip file without any problems.

Right, I know it’s not an issue for everyone, or the forums would have been blowing up. I don’t know why there is a problem, but I still see it. Just thought I’d let you know.

Is there any information I can provide that would help diagnose?

Has anyone else encountered this issue?
