I am in Australia, and when taking credit card payments, it asks for a zip code, which is v unusual in Australia. We don’t have a requirement for post code normally for online purchases. But this is not the problem. The problem is that the zip code field expects 5 characters, and we have a 4-character post code we use in Australia. The plugin takes the zip code from the billing address on the checkout page and automatically populates, but it enforces an American postcode format which the rest of the world does not use! I had to put another zero just to see if it would work.

Can we have this fixed, so this can take payments in Australia (and other parts of the world) please?

By the way, how is the zip code checked, because there are so many zip codes that the user can enter that may not check correctly e.g. home address, delivery address, billing address, order town, all of which could be relevant but not right. It’s such a complication that would reduce sales, especially if error messages do not explain what the error is. Can you remove this requirement entirely? The less fields required, the less obstacles for a sale. Hard enough as it is.

    Hello rowdyroo

Thank you for contacting WooCommerce support.

Currently,?WooCommerce Square?will automatically detect if a card requires a postal code. For cards that are issued by countries like Australia a postal code may not always be necessary.

Could you please confirm whether the credit card you are using is Australian?
