• Was delighted with this plugin. Works brilliantly except for one huge issue. It doesn’t work with the most popular gallery plugin available.
Spent a day trying to fix an issue with links in NextGen galleries not working. After many hours discovered that it’s a known issue and the creator of this plugin doesn’t intent to fix the problem. That’s fine, it’s his call, but to not openly state clearly that it doesn’t work with the most popular gallery plugin, is just wrong.

It’s a bug in NextGen Gallery as explained by the Polylang author.

I saw the fix, but you hack the plugin files, they are written over with the next update, this plugin doesn’t seem useable even with this fix.

It’s not my hack, it’s proposed by another user, and Chouby the Polylang author said that this hack “will break something”.

The problem according to Chouby is that NextGen gallery creates an URL with 2 slashes instead of one.

I just updated to v2.1.0. It does not solve the issue either. I still have //albums/ instead of expected /albums/ in $_SERVER[‘REQUEST_URI’]

You were delighted and the plugin works brilliantly and you give a one star rating (the worst rating ever) because it doesn’t work with one plugin??? How poor is that? This is a free plugin and developers worked hard in there free timt that you can get it for free. You can’t expect that it works with each of the thousands plugins around. And if there is an error you may help finding a solution but giving a one star solution … this says more about you than about the plugin. This is not what the reviews are meant for. Did you give a five star rating when you were so delighted? I guess no …

If the plugin doesn’t work with your specific configuration of wordpress (and not everybody is using nextgen gallery) then move on and use WPML or any other paid solution. Then you may force the plugin author to give you what you have paid for.

Regarding polylang … YOU gave NOTHING. But you want to have everything. And if you haven’t noticed yet … there is a range between one star and five star. If you were delighted and if you thought the plugin is brilliant except of the work with nextgen gallery … don’t you think you should give the brilliant part of the plugin a rating too? It is not the plugin that deserves a one star rating. It is rather a rating about you. Sorry, for the rant but I just had to write it reading such a selfish and childish rating.

You are welcome to your opinion Cinematic, as I am mine. The plugin fails to work with the most popular gallery plugin there is, sorry, but that’s a big negative for me.

This may be a negative for you then just don’t use it. As simple as this or make it better. You are misusing the rating system for your frustation that you can’t get all your wishes for free. This is the true reason for your rating. If every user would behave like you do do you think anybody would be interested to develop any plugins anymore? And you can’t even be sure if it’s not the fault of the nextgen gallery plugin. Really the only one who deserves a one star rating is you and your rating.

It may be news to you Cinematic, but the rating system is there for negative input as well. Wouldn’t be a lot of good if the only comments were as you think they should be. It’s not meant for just slapping the backs of developers and saying “well done”.
You can continue to make attacking comments as you wish, my rating stands. Not interested in any more of your inane comments, so will be un-following this thread, so please feel free to rant away about how we should only say good things about plugins…

Yes the rating input is there for negative input AND positive input. You said the plugin worked BRILLIANTLY and you were DELIGHTED but you give one star rating ??? One star means “worst plugin ever”. So you think a plugin deserves the worst rating ever because it doesn’t work with another third party plugin? Most likely due to a bug in this third party plugin? I won’t waste any time discussing this with you because you are probably not capable to understand … wasted time and thanks god childish users like you stomping feet because they don’t get what they want (immediately and of course free!) are the minority. So your rating will drop to where it belongs … nowhere land.

    Well said @cinematic.

I am currently evaluating this plugin and the reviews like above do not help. All that needs to be said is that there is a problem with one of the hundreds of popular plugins but the rest of it works great.

I expect issues with plugins. With so many people developing different great solutions for WordPress it is understandable. And hours and hours of work is done for free, for us.

A 1 star rating is poor and more a reflection on the commentator in this instance than the plugin.

From other more useful comments here and online I will give this plugin a try, knowing that there is an issue with one particular plugin, Nextgen, and I will pay the author for their work if it is useful to me – and if it works great for what it is intended to do – even if it doesn’t play with some other plugin I have – I will rate well!

You’re being very childish here Informatique. One star means the plugin does not work properly at all and it is a flag for other users not to use it. If one plugin does not work with Polylang, it does not make it an completely crippled one.

This review says more about Informatique than about Polylang.

Besides this all you gave Polylang a one star review for a bug that is not because of Polylang.

It’s a strange thing that there are so many leaches that get mad when something they didn’t pay for doesn’t solve all of their problems.

    Anyhow, there are 3 options:

    • HIRE a developer for a custom patch
    • Simple wait for a fix (DONATE to the developer to make this go faster)
    • Or just go and BUY WPML…
