Youtube preview and cookies

    Hi there,

    I have two different websites using Elementor (free). I also use CookieYes to manage cookie consent.

    On site 1:
    I have a page, where I’ve embedded a YouTube video, with that element.
    If cookies are not accepted, nothing is shown where the video is, not even a preview thumbnail.

    On site 2:
    I have created a regular post, not using elementor, and have embedded a YouTube video.
    If cookies are not accepted, a thumbnail is shown for the video, but it has a banner across that says that I need to accept cookies to show the video.

    How can I get the same effect for site 1, on a page created with elementor?

    Thank you for contacting Elementor Support. Can you provide us with a link to a page where we can see the issue? Have you checked with CookieYes support to see if their solution for video cookie consent is compatible with Elementor in the way you want it?

    Seems like it works fine via iframe, though, but I would prefer to show it via Elementor.

    By the way, it works fine if you select ‘Vimeo’ as the source, so should be easy to replicate the issue.

    Hi there,

    Should be pretty easy to replicate:

    • Insert a YouTube video, using the ‘Video’ element, selecting ‘YouTube’ as source
      • If cookies are not allowed, no video/thumbnail is shown. It’s just a blank space.
    • Select ‘Vimeo’ as source
      • With no cookies: Thumbnail for video is shown, with a banner saying that I have to accept cookies.

    Hi Thomas,

    Thank you for your feedback. It appears there is a conflict between the the cookie plugin, the Google API, and Elementor (if it works for Vimeo, but not YouTube). Have you tried a different cookie plugin/banner to replicate or eliminate the issue?
