YouTube Links Showing As Broken

Same problem here. I think this plugin is abandonded.

@tomusher I saw that other thread when it hit the forum a month ago. These are new 400, not 403 errors.

My Amazon links are all shown as 503 even tho they work. This plugin is broken.

I’m checking for a rebuilt website and I had more than 400 bad request, but the link I checked are all OK and I can’t check every one ??

The developer API key seems to be expired. Following links you end up with this solution:

1. Create your own YouTube API Key: https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/getting-started
2. Edit /wp-content/plugins/broken-link-checker/modules/extras/youtube.php
3. Add your own YouTube API key as var $youtube_developer_key = ‘…’;

After I changed the API key and rechecked the links, they were all fine.

Note, on a next plugin update, you’d have to redo step 2+3. So hopefully, the developers will add an interface to add our own YouTube API key instead of using a hardcoded one as suggested here:

Same problem here. @mackaaij posted a solution that works great, so thanks for that. Would be nice if the developer would take care of this problem for everyone, though.

Another option to work around this if you don’t want to create an API key is to turn off YouTube API in the plugin settings. Then it will use Basic HTTP to check the link.

Settings -> Link Checker -> Protocols & APIs tab.
