Our website contains 160+ links to YouTube videos of educational trainings, demonstrations, virtual meetings, etc. Frequently our report in the new WPMU DEV interface fills up with 429 “Too Many Request” errors, for all 160+ of these links. Sometimes the YouTube links vanish from the report after a few days, but they come back again.

The report is unusable to us with all of these because you have to scroll down and click “Load More” multiple times to reveal the full list in pages of 20. Taking any action (like reporting a link not broken or ignoring it) causes the whole report to refresh and put you back at the top, with all the pages you just revealed hidden again. Reporting a link not broken does nothing, and ignoring it doesn’t remove it from display–just grays it out–so the list of perfectly good links gets longer and longer over time. We’re up to 219 with this YouTube issue, so that’s up to 10 scrolls and clicks for every single action.

I was asked to open an issue specifically for the YouTube links in this forum. However, even if these particular links are fixed, the new interface is still so time-consuming to use, we will likely need to find a different plugin.

    Hi @tmarnell,

I’m afraid, the 429 occurs due to rate limits placed on the Youtube side which in turn causes the BLC to crawl these URLs for inaccurate results.

Our BLC team is already aware of this and it’ll be ignoring any such URLs out of the box in the next plugin update to remove such false positives. At the moment, I’m afraid there isn’t an exact ETA but can confirm it’s already being looked at by our team.

Regarding your feedback about the interface, I’ll make sure to pass this to our BLC teams attention so that they could review and check what further improvements that could be considered down the roadmap.

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Best Regards,

    Nithin
