Youtube embed not working anymore after 4.5.1 update

    On my blog I have about 800 posts/pages, many of them have a Youtube-movie on it.
    The Youtube link is simply pasted into the editor and then even in the editor a preview can be seen, and on the published post or page the video can be watched.

    Since the recent WP update however, all the videos are not displayed anymore but only the Youtube URL, like https://youtu.be/xx1SAjrqkIo

    So links are now on my posts and pages, and not movies.

    On all my other sites nothing has changed, all videos are working just fine.

    This problem is browser independent, I have disabled all plugins and still the problem exitst. I have switched to WP 2014 theme but also on that theme it does not display the videos.

    I did not use a plugin for displaying Youtube videos. The URL look the same in both WYSIWYG-editor and TEXT-editor.

    Repasting the url in the editor does not resolve the issue, neither does enableding or disabling “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” in Settings->writing.

    Anyone has any idea what causes this or how to fix it?

    Final update:
    After my host kept denying anything was wrong with the connection of the server, I asked them for a roll-back of the WP install. This seemed to work for some hours and so I posted the above.
    But soon the trick failed and my youtube videos were not working anymore.

    I then moved my site to another host, and now all I need to do is edit and save any page or post with a youtube video in the body content and voila: the video preview is there after saving.

    Clearly the host failed me here, and after I moved away they apologized for not investigating this issue for me because they finally did find that indeed the physical server that my site was hosted on was having a hardware connection issue.

    So if you got this same issue, and the videos work on and off, please check the connection of your site with some tools and if you get errors in the connection, chances are that this is the cause of the youtube videos not showing up.

    23 September 2016 – Following up – I have had this issue for about a month. I have YouTube videos embedded into PickPlugin’s Accordion. I had no trouble until all of a sudden I was seeing the YT videos in the back editing space, but the site showed only the url.

    I have WP 4.6.1. I called HostGator who hosts the site and he had no idea, said he could not help and directed to me towards the Accordion plugin designer. I spoke with him and tried a variety of things, but to know avail. Additionally, The videos are not showing in just a general topic thread either. Videos are not showing at all.

    If I were to contact HostGator again, do I have specific language I need to be using? I’m not super technical, but can relay a message. After researching a ton, this thread is by far the closest to my issue.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, I′m having the same problem, but only with one particular video. I contacted my host and they said it wasn′t a problem their end, but having read your comment I′m now not so sure. You referred to some tools to check the site′s connectivity…could I ask which ones you used? Thanks!

    Working with wp 4.7.4 and videos will not display in the view page. After i embed link from vimeo and hook the video button in formats and then push update, the video button switches back to standard in the format box!
    I just updated to 4.7.4 version, as the older version all of a sudden did not display videos, hoping an update would do the trick.
    Anybody?

    Same thing is happening to me after being updated to 4.7.4. Some videos are working and some are not. and new videos are not shown in the editor as they used to. any help?

    My embed youtube videos are not working anymore. I am using 4.7.4 and visual composer (video player). Any suggestion? Thanks

    I have change the video URL for the URL that is included in the Share/Embed option. Right now is working again.

    I’m having exactly the same problem on my blogs at cuous.com. And I’m on WordPress 4.8.
    Please help! Because it’s not possible to go back and edit all the posts. Even eternity editing though, the videos aren’t appearing when I see it again.
