Unfortunately, updating to API version 3 will require a significant rewrite of the plugin, and I don’t have the resources to do that for a while.

Great… I use this plugin on several sites and you’re not going to update it “for a while”.

Believe me. I use it, too, and I want to continue to rely on it. It’s just that many developers, like me, have to make a living before we can spend time on passion projects like this.
