As an Admin, I’m trying to add some questions to a newly created Q&A forum. No matter what I do, I get the popup error message saying “You’re posting too quickly. Slow Down.” Seriously? How slow do I need to go? My two finger, hunt & peck is too fast for this plugin. Any suggestions?

For admins and regular users it’s 5 seconds. New registered users it’s 10 seconds. Currently there is no option to change these values from dashboard, however if you want to change it you can use filter hook 'wpforo_usergroup_get_flood_interval'.

Since my topic here was posted, I left the wpForo forum alone to do other things. I read your posting here just now and went back to the forum I created and was able to add a single question. Now it won’t let me add the answer.

Just checked again and apparently I’m still to fast. Something is causing it to hang and I do not have very many plugins.

Just went in and deactivated all but wpForo and refreshed the page and it still won’t let me answer the question.

    Something is wrong.

Something else I’ve noticed, the time it says I posted the question says 6 hours ago, but the first question I posted says 2 hours ago. Your timer is broken.

I have the debug on if that helps.

Please update to wpForo 1.6.1 version, we just released it. Then delete all caches, navigate to forum front-end press Ctrl+F5 to reload JS files and reset browser cache then test it again.

I tried the updated version on a new site with only wpForo installed and activated.

The problem still exists. Same issue.

Then this is a local issue. The date / time functions are incorrectly configured on your server. What hosting service you use? For further support please open a support topic at wpForo Community: https://wpforo.com/community/

I have to agree. I was able to change a few things and I got it to work. Thank you for looking into this.

How did you get this to work? I’m having the same problems. My server is in a different time zone than I am in and no matter what time zone I set the WP site to, it constantly gives me this error….

I use Justhost as my webhosting.

I’ve used the same hosting company for over 10 years and have never had an issue like this until now. Most of my sites use around 100 plugins and have about 75 pages each.

I was looking for a more modern forum, closer to phpbb, that works well with WordPress; mainly because I was tired of having to go through all of the setup that bbpress requires. I really like the unread posts feature. Yes, you can create this with bbpress, but I got tired of having to assemble bbpress each time I went to use it.

At the time when I wrote the previous post here, I had actually gone in and fixed part of the code wpForo uses. The deeper I went, the more I realized this plugin has more issues than I was willing to chase.

Coding a forum is a very difficult process. I have to give wpForo credit for making the attempt. It may look like a Porsche but it doesn’t do well with a Pinto motor under the hood.

I finally ended up using a different forum plugin. It too isn’t perfect but the author doesn’t blame their work on others, plus there are a several hooks and filters that allow you to customize the forum the way you want.

Sorry this isn’t the answer you were looking for. There just isn’t a simple fix for wpForo.

Going back to the original problem, our members are complaining that they’re getting the message “you are posting too quickly. slow down.” They aren’t actually posting fast enough to get that message, according to your parameters stated about. Thoughts?

I’m not sure why the developers of this plugin have decided to hide their heads in the sand with this issue. They either don’t believe the problem exists or they just aren’t skillful enough to fix it. It is nice to know someone else is having the same issue and it’s not just me. Sorry you’re having to deal with it. It’s sad that the developers have allowed this to remain unfixed. The fact that the developers had to catch this error and display the message should have been their first clue. No other forum displays such a message.

There are actually several problems with this plugin caused by the same bug. You’ll notice your timestamps are incorrect as well.

When I first brought this up, I was told the problem was caused by a conflict with another program or a wrong setting with my server. They are incorrect.

My solution: Use another plugin for your forum.

Message to the developers: Please do not mark this topic “Resolved” until you actually fix the problem

Sigh I hear ya. I actually moved away from bbpress to wpforo because some of the features WPForo offers were very highly requested by our membership. This is the biggest issue, this posting too quickly thing. And yeah, the times have been wrong from the start and that blows my mind a bit. So frustrated.

    Hi there,
We just released wpForo 1.6.2 version. Please check again and let us know if you still have the same issue.

Still have the same issues. Nothing has been resolved.

    @stephylewis,
This issue was fixed for all users who were reporting it. All people confirmed. As far as i see you’re only wpForo user who still have this issue.

    • Please let us know, have you ever added any custom code or hook to fix this issue?
    • Are you sure you use the latest version?
    • Have you deleted all caches and purged CDN (if you have)?
    • Can you leave some screenshot of that error, we think this can be other plugin error?
