“You’re blocking access to robots” error

    Hello, our website over the past couple of days has been showing the error that we are blocking access to robots:

    “Huge SEO Issue: You’re blocking access to robots. You must go to your Reading Settings and uncheck the box for Search Engine Visibility.”

    We have the box unchecked in the reading settings, and all the pages are allowing robots to crawl and index the pages on the website.

    I have cleared the cache and no change.

    We are still getting steady (but a bit lower) traffic from google search and other search engines…so I believe that we are still indexed on search engines.

    What could be going on that is showing this error?

    Thank you for reaching out.

    We understand that, while you don’t have the checkbox to discourage Search Engines to not index your site under Settings → Reading enabled, you still get this notification. Let’s find out what is happening.

    We’ve checked a few things:
    – We did a Google site search, seen here, that shows that there are 500+ search results specific from your site. This means your site is indeed indexed.

    – We’ve checked your robots.txt here and see that it is the default, this is good too.

    – We’ve checked your homepage and a few other pages and couldn’t find a noindex on them, meaning they are indexable.

    Having said the above, we were not really able to tell why you get this notification at this point. Can you confirm that you are running all the latest versions of plugins, themes, and WordPress itself? It not, please update and check if the notification persists.
